Advantages: Some excellent production and lyrics; ONE MIC and 2ND CHILDHOOD are CROWNED Queensbridge classics Disadvantages: One disappointing guest rapper - AZ remains a SLAVE to THE FLYEST / Some overrated lyrics
...to SLEEP (i.e. like the effects of ETHER). At this point, he is an ANGRY prophet ready to seek REVENGE against the 'Jigga' man.
The chorus sets Nas up perfectly for the first verse as Nas tells Jay Z to '.....brace yourself for the main event....'. He then follows that up with factual subject matter to briefly explain that NO rapper is the best in world, regardless of whether they are from the '....East, West, North,....' or '....South....' coast. Further along, Nas spits out a line that questions Jay Z for calling Nas garbage in 'Takeover' while rhyming that with cartilage metaphorically. The most notable qualities of Nas' first verse that caught my attention were the brilliant, complex wordplay combined with Nas' furious delivery. In the second verse, the MIGHTY Nas get even more irate as he continues to his lyrical fight with Jay Z...

Advantages: Nas spits magical, street poetry over AMAZING N.Y. production that blows my STATE OF MIND! Disadvantages: Apparently nothing / Nas may never re-write a classic rap album like 'ILLMATIC' again.

2. N.Y. STATE OF MIND (4:53 min)
As I read the second chapter to you Ciao readers, I now enter Nas' STATE OF MIND that details the aspects of life in N.Y (New York). The N.Y. STATE OF MIND track is the first genuine piece of rap music on 'ILLMATIC', miraculously written by Nas the poet. It sets a very high standard of Hip Hop music, both from a lyrical and production standpoint. Clearly remembered by Nas fans across the world, this track has become one of Nas' most popular, old school tunes as it was written in Nas' chronicles.
I will try my best to give my honest account of this music track from the MIND of a real street poet like Nas. But right now Ciao readers, I don't know how to start this sh*t….
The classic tale of this music track begins in majestic fashion, with an award...

Advantages: Great lyricism Disadvantages: A couple of the tunes are just average
...Premier on this track as he talks about half-man, half-amazing; Nasir Jones. You have Nas rapping aboutth early years of his carrer, first before he just opens it up and Mcs about genreal things, and although I thought we were going to get a nice review of his career, it was still an amazing tune from him.
**Five Stars**
14. "K-I-SS-I-N-G"
I found this to be one of the best track son the album as it has Nas rapping in a form which isn't really done very often, and here as Nas raps about his love for a particaulr girl, her traces the psat whcih they have had before they are ready to move on into marriage. The use of the the the nursey rhyme is highly effective here and gives Nas a chance to lay off the lyricism for a while.
**Five Stars**
15. "Money Is My Bitch"
Nas raps here about how money has shaped his life and how he sees...
