....... Ah yes, a makeweight CD... and suddenly she remembers her ex-boss and his impassioned monologue in the car about Mr Diamond. Sure enough, The Best of Neil Diamond, on Spectrum is only £3.33. Not only that but it is mid career stuff - '68 to '72 - and has "Sweet Caroline" on it so I know I'll like one song. Excellent! Cheaper than £5.00 postage and a couple of positive but non-gushing Amazon reviews from surprised non-fans, to boot, so into the basket it goes. PRESENTATION The CD arrived in a box with a completely different picture to the one on Amazon or illustrated here so you can appreciate just how different I've added a photo at the bottom. The mean, moody and well... close to magnificent gentleman on the cover does, indeed, bear no relation to Mr Spangly at all - more of a cross between Pete Best from those early Cavern... Read review

Advantages: Totally mellow - not so much laid back as horizontal - costs peanuts to buy.

...WOULD YOU LIKE SOME CHEESE WITH YOUR CHEESE? INTRODUCTION Even the trendiest, most tasteful person has their blind spot. I wasn't the trendiest most tasteful person to start with, I like Abba and I still listen to and enjoy the Wombles, so my recently developed blind spot, one that has destroyed any vestiges of street credibility I might have had for ever, is blinder than most. It's Neil Diamond: God of all that is Sequined, Sparkly and Not in the Best of Taste and more embarrassing than the Wombles by far. Allegedly, eating cheese is addictive because it releases endorphines in the brain. Well I guess listening to it must have a similar effect on me. Having turned to the Dark Side - I'm still in shock - I decided to see if I could track down some of the Spangly One's original albums to find out if the "unknown" stuff is as "good... Read review

Advantages: Great Dvd, Super Performance
Disadvantages: Not many features.

...and coming star in a new band "Detchadupa", Eddie Vedder (Split Enz) Lead Singin. Also Performed is the "Smiths" classic, "There is a light that never goes out". I would highly reccomend this too anyone with an interest in music in generall. Songs to suit almost every taste, from the slow emotional ballad, to the heavier rock from Eddie Vedder. Also highly reccomended to anyone who followed "Crowded House", or "Splt Enz". Unique music, performed live to a very high standard, as usuall with Neil Finn.... Read review
