Advantages: Strong acting, black comedy, nice visual look. Disadvantages: No characters that are likable.
Rick is a modernised adaptation of Verdi?s ?Rigoletto? opera. I did not know this before seeing it. It doesn?t really make that much difference to me afterwards either as I?m not familiar with Rigoletto. That said though, it is still useful to know this going into Rick, as it makes the kind of absurdist twists you?d only usually find in an opera easier to accept. Without this, the film does at times seem a little ridiculous. It?s still all very enjoyable, save one vital plot point, and upon reflection, it does make sense.
Our titular protagonist is Rick (Bill Pullman), an annoying kind of man you could only really find in the corporate world. Advantages: Thumpingly Seductive and Addicting Songs with Phenomenal Production Disadvantages: Rick Ross may be the worst lyricist on Earth; lots of crap
saves it. This is much more uptempo, with rapid-fire violins and trumpets. He samples the theme from SWAT. Ross threatens us again. Oh please don't hurt me Mr. Ross, I promise not to cross the line into your hood again. The fat-ass looks like a legit crime boss. Please. The only thing he pushes is turds out of his crackhole. Tell me another one Rick.
Sampling the theme from SWAT is Hip-Hop.
Mario Winans, a guy who I simply cannot stand, drops in with Rick on "Get Away". This song is so seductive, smooth, and rich, and I absolutely love it. The production has these nice 80's sounding, Miami-synthesizers that just feel damn good. Listening to this, you picture a dark room with soft feather pillows, everybody lighting blunts while sluts lapdance on our crotches while wearing Khakis. This is relaxing people. Advantages: very versatile and well built. Good looking and practical with excellent performance. Disadvantages: Not such good quality on interior and a bit spartan for driver and more so for passengers.
This very practical van has very good loading capacity while it still takes 5 passengers (and driver) in acceptable conditions. The driver is possitioned perfectly for the ride with more than ample adjustments to his or her seat and leaving loads of room to move around if you have to on those long journeys. The seats for the passengers are less comfortable and have absolutely no adjustments which is a real downer. The noise is ok at any of the speeds and are actually less than the VW polo we also drive. The rear passenger compartment has no light either which is again a slight minus point.
The performance is absolutely mind blowing for a van this size. It can leave most cars standing at the lights and when overtaking on the motorway again it has such useable amounts of grunt that it just feels like a car in most cases. The fuel ...
