several years establishing his fruitful brand. Mr Lover Lover gathers all the hits from that period, weaving in album tracks and alternative mixes for a slightly padded out "best of". However, for all his recent success, Shaggy will always be synonymous with huge global smashes like "Oh Carolina" and the mighty "Boombastic", here in both its original form and a seductive Sting remix. The Mungo Jerry-sampling "In The Summertime", although probably his most irritating release, is also present and correct, so too the Janet Jackson duet, "Luv Me, Luv Me", produced by legendary desk men, Jam And Lewis. In fact, what strikes you most when listening to these old songs is how good the production actually is. "Sexy Body Girls" with its tough bassline and stolen guitar riff from "Eye Of The Tiger" comes on like a fierce Busta Rhymes, while "Nice and Lovely" pre-empts the current trend for all things swing with a wonderfully jazzy vibe. Boombastic indeed. --Paul Tierney

...First ill give the Lo'Down on shaggy!
Shaggy is a Jamacian and is called shaggy as he was obbsessed with Scooby Doo!!!! When he was 18 he left Jamacia and went to brokyln. He joined the U.S Marines. He relesed his 1st album in 1993, and look where he is now. Now just because Shaggy has only Just come to England doesn't mean he isn't an international star. He is a massive hit in the U.S.
Shaggy - It wasn't me is the best song ive heard all year!!!!!!!!! Considering Shaggy was in the Marines he hasn't done bad!! Shaggy's songs tells a story and its not just a load of crap!!! But we can't forget Rikrok can we. Rikrok's innocent voice makes the hit aswell!!!! Although no one can understand a flaming word that shaggy says rikrok makes up 4 it!!!!! Shaggy is the best so go and get his album. Go to http://www.shaggyonline.com for tour...

...Shaggy has done it again with a number 1 hit. He has had another successful hit with It Wasn't Me. This has to be Shaggy's best song yet from his collection from the album Hotshots.
This is not only Shaggys number 1 in the UK, he had hits with Mr Bombastic, Carolina and his brand new hit Angel.
Those songs were all good and sounded fine but Shaggy's classic has to be It Wasn't Me.
This song was Number1 for just a long time because it was a wicked song.
It wasn't me features Shaggy with RikRok. RikRok is the vocalist in the song. It sounds fabulous with his voice in it.
The song is based about RikRok cheating on his women for another woman. He sleeps with some different women and his current girlfriend finds out and her and her mates chase after RikRok, RikRok then asks help from Shaggy and then Shaggy helps him to escape...

Advantages: Includes: It Wasn't Me & Angel Disadvantages: Could have some more better songs
...above Rayvon. So much so that it almost sounds as though it is Shaggy who is guesting on his own record.
Notable tracks include "It Wasn't Me" which is about a two timing boyfriend trying to defend himself from his girlfriend. The thing I like best is Ricardo "RikRok" Ducent's laidback nonchalant vocals, it really makes the track shine. Of course, many would recognize the radio friendly "Luv Me, Luv Me" which features Samantha Cole. The Last track "Chica Bonita" is fun loving carefree island music at its best, you'd almost imagine hearing the waves lapping and palm trees rustling while listening to it.
Although Hot Shot did have some dull moments in between, it remains and otherwise noteworthy album and the outside talent that guest on his record give it a fresh feel (I suspect this was done because hearing an album full of Shaggy...

Album Notes: Crossover dancehall artist Shaggy started churning out hits in the early 1990s when his distinctive baritone voice and penchant for hooky, pop-inflected dancehall grooves struck a chord. Those early hits, "Boombastic" and a cover of the Folkes Brothers' "Oh, Carolina," kick off this best-of set. In fact, THE BEST OF SHAGGY sticks to the artist's early work, so those looking for hits from the 2000s, like "It Wasn't Me" and "Angel," won't find them. Even so, the 12 tracks that make up this compilation represent Shaggy's fun, bouncy, good-time music as it boomed from jeeps and clubs in Brooklyn and elsewhere in the `90s.

Advantages: The melodys on this album have had alot more thought put into them! The lyrics are smooth and catchy! Disadvantages: He has slowed down his music alo in this album, its more chilled out but a bit boring
...This album is very chilled out, you can realy tell how shaggy's music has matured over the past few albums. If your into your R & B you will love this album, but if you love shaggys old up beat rythems then im sad to say its changed.
The first song on the album is "Hey Sexy Lady" which isn't the best song of his. He still persits in saying his name at the start of every song.
The rest of the songs on here are just weird. "We Are The Ones" and "Lost" make no sense. And the album ends with a hidden bonus track, which is an obligatory song featuring Sean Paul, a 1990-flavored remix of "Hey Sexy Lady"....
