...This album contains 2 cd's featuring all the best Power ballad songs. Heart, Cutting Crew and Phil Collins are just a few names featured on the cd. The selection of songs is good - ranging from the 1980's through to modern day. The mixing of the album in terms of production quality is very good - and the insert provides good information about the tracks. It is a good cd for the car - providing such a diverse selection of songs. I would recommend this album to all - it is a compilation, but for once, all the tracks are worth listening to. The CD has been mastered - normalization has been applied to the tracks to produce the same db's for each track (this means that you won't have one track thats quiet, and one really loud track!).... ...You can not get this album anymore.I've tried!Its like Carl Cox Fantasia,gold dust!If you like Dave Clarke's electro CD on World Service,then you will love this.Contrary to what people insist on telling me,technically,Dave Clarke is not the best dj.But its the songs he chooses and finds which make him one of the best.I've seen him live four times and he didn't play an electro set,just techno,but he was still brill.Only real big names on this are Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince but that's not important cause it's superb.Ive also got X-Mix Electroboogie by Dave and its similar but still excellent and worth the money if you're bored of straight techno!!Its got a silver cover with a wee spaceship on it,so if you see it sell it to me!!!... Advantages: Classic. Cult. A few good tracks.
Disadvantages: Weak compared to other Aphex Twin releases. Bland techno.

...that Selected Ambient Works 85-92 (Warp Records) is a far better release. Audax Powder is a killer track, one of the best; a wavering of maniac trance vibes echoing over a sea of plutonium-soaked acid-bathed drum sequences. Although the time signatures are depressingly banal, Twin's intend is to submerge us into old school electronica territory. Audax Powder is the most evocative track on S.O.S.W and demonstrates Richard's sheer understanding of the genre. Really neat. Quoth is similar to tracks that Aphex Twin would release on the latter Classics album in 1995. I do not like this track. It plays like a long forgotten techno mix-tape, shameless in it's simplicity. It is nothing more than replication of subterranean gabber beats. Bland. If it Really is Me, 4th track, relies upon the same principle. It is built upon a techno thump, cheesy disco... Read review
