Advantages: beutiful music Disadvantages: none
...Ted Hawkins busked on Venice Beech Florida, and attracted large crowds there before being bought to the attention of the UK audience by the globetrotting Andy Kershaw.
The music itself is very simple, with in most cases simple accoustic guitar and Ted's voice as the only instruments, occaisionally joined by his wife on vocals and a couple of frindes on drums and bass.
Within this setting Ted is able to wring every amount of emotion with just the tone of his voice, which is perfectly illustrated on the title track "happy Hour" when he realises his wife is chaeting on him.
A slowburning delight...

Damm em Yankees Review ofDamn Yankees - Damn Yankeesby

Advantages: A good mix of hard rock and power ballads Disadvantages: If you dont like Adult Orientated Rock (AOR) you wont like it
...The Double Double Platinum Damn Yankees was the debut album by Damn Yankees and includes chart topping hits as "High Enough", "Damn Yankees", and "Comin' of Age". Damn Yankees is an American AOR Super Group formed in 1898 by solo artist Ted Nugent, Jack Blades of 'Night Ranger', Tommy Shaw of 'Stix' and Michael Cartellone of 'Lynyrd Skynyrd'. Damn Yankees is a mix of power ballads and hard rocking tunes with exceptional guitar riffs such as the self entitled 'Damn Yankees', 'Rock City' and 'Pile Driver'. Although the heavier tracks are far superior it was undoubtedly the air time given to the power ballads the gave this album phenomenal success. Damn Yankees is without doubt the best of their albums....

...Gustav Holst: The Planets: Egdon Heath
Introduction
The Planets is one of the most popular pieces of classic music in Britain. There are countless numbers of recordings. Because of the inclusion of Egdon Heath – Holsts’ own favourite, I have chosen the recording on the Teldec label, conducted by Sir Andrew Davis and performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and BBC Symphony Chorus. Released in October 1994. It is my view that Sir Andrew Davies interpretation of Holst is one of the best.
The Composer
Gustavus Theodore von Holst was born in Cheltenham on 21st September 1874 (by happy coincidence this is also my birthday well the month and day but not the year.). He had a musical upbringing. His father was a piano teacher and from an early age Gustav was encouraged to practice the piano daily. He also studied the violin and trombone...
