There's Moonlight in Vermont sung by Ella Fitzgerald. If you haven't heard her sing, hear this song and you'll know why Ella Fitzgerald is so well-loved to this day by people from all over the year.
Prisoner of Love by TeddyWilson is good, solid jazz fare. A simple rhythm, slightly muted trumpet and lilting piano. Eventually, the music is joined by a female singer with a voice that is slightly reminiscent of Mae West.
Closing Hour Blues by Meade Lux Lewis is a blues jazz cross-over. Somehow the crackles from the original master recording just add a little...

Advantages: A classic album - the best ever? Disadvantages: None at all
...is an alternative version of "I know there's an answer", with some different lyrics. The song was later covered by Frank Black on his first solo album after leaving the Pixies.
"Trombone Dixie" is lighter in tone, with its oompa-style, bringing things to a very satisfying close.
The booklet and liner notes are excellent, providing a wealth of information and detail.
At a recent performance in the US, Brian Wilson played the songs from Pet Sounds, with an orchestra and backing band The Wondermints (whose albums are well worth a listen if you like the Beach Boys. Their song "Tracey Hide" would sit extremely well on "Pet Sounds"). I would have loved to have been there....

Advantages: Very reasonable price, good variety Disadvantages: Hard to get hold of!
...for a variety of listeners. If you have an interest in one particular programme, it is easy to get hold of a soundtrack. However, CD's like this which have a variety aren't regularly released, so this CD is brilliant. Having such a collection of tunes ranging from main titles to character's themes, I enjoy every moment. The tracks themselves are:
