Album Notes: The Bar-Kays: Larry Dodson (vocals); Harvey Henderson (tenor saxophone); Winston Stewart (keyboards); James Alexander (bass); Mark Bynum, Charles Allen, Lloyd Smith, Frank Thompson, Michael Beard, Sherman Guy. Compilation producer: Harry Weinger. Includes liner notes by Rob Bowman. This is part of Mercury Records' Funk Essentials series. This greatest hits album documents the Bar-Kays' work from the late '70s to the mid '80s. Out of tragic beginnings (four of the band had died in the 1967 plane crash that killed Otis Redding), this extremely talented and hard-working outfit remolded themselves from a second-string Stax backing band into an R&B outfit with great crossover potential. However, they never achieved the commercial success of groups such as Sly And The Family Stone or James Brown, which makes their oeuvre that much more fascinating. VOLUME II presents the Bar-Kays' progression from funky '70s grooves to their more commercial, synthesizer-inflected '80s tunes. This album is a collection of energetic party songs, both exotic and erotic. Standout tracks include the funky (and prophetic) "Whitehouseorgy," featuring a cool guitar solo, and the self-explanatory "She Talks to Me With Her Body" featuring some groovy early '80s period-sounding electric drums. Like the later incarnations of the band, this album has style and sass; it's perfect for getting your blood, and booty, pumping.

Advantages: Lots of great Guitar songs Disadvantages: Not many (apart from status quo)
...Ok Welcome to this review on " the best air guitar album in the world " Vol.2.
Well I got this album for my Christmas in 2002 I think, after my dad got the first 1. I kept hinting every time we went shopping and on Christmas day I woke up to find it in my stocking.
This is a double disk CD by various artists comprised for air guitar rockers around the world. There are lots or artists old and new from Queen to alien ant farm. Brian Adams to Alice cooper, and so on.
I will go through the songs individually on each disk. But first, what's included.
Well there are 2 disks, one yellow and one pink. 44 songs in total so that's 44 air guitar moments to savour and enjoy over and over again. A leaflet with each song and the people behind the song. And A free Night of passion with…. The Air Britney !!!! Note. Passion not included.
Ok so...

Advantages: Good general review of The Smiths' high points Disadvantages: Misses some of the even higher ones.
...The Smiths were arguably the best British band of the eighties, producing some of the most different, but hauntingly appealing music for decades. Best2 was released in the early '90's to some (perhaps deserved) acusations of a cash-in along with the re relaese of the remaing back catalogue. As an attempt to capture the 'Best' moments of The Smiths it was always going to be contentious. Most bands have an obvious choice of best songs and the inclusion of 'There is alight that never goes out' and 'Bigmouth strikes again' proves that the Smiths are not immune to this rule. However, the great charm of The Smiths was that different songs held special meanings for different people. Whilst some people may reflect on the relationship trauma coming from the painfully brilliant 'Last night I dreamt that somebody loved me' others may prefer...
