I bought this CD a while back in 2004 even though this CD was released in March 2002 I came across this album by pure luck in my collection of CD's and I thought to myself I have not heard this for ages it seems like I haven't seen it for about 10 years. I put the CD in to my CD player this morning and again found myself singing along and dancing to some of the tracks.
This album Best of the Corrs is made up of 18 fantastic tracks which could easily get one addicted to the music I know it did me when I was younger as well I was first introduced to the Corrs music when I was about 12 years old by a Friend of mine who used to listen to it constantly over and over again and we used to do dances to them in our back gardens it just grew on me and since then I have been listening to the Corrs.
The Corrs are four Irish people 3 females and one male They also write there own songs which is great (how many bands can say they do all that) as most bands now a days either do cover versions of old songs or they get someone else to write them for them.
Some Background of the Corrs ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Corrs are made up of three sisters and one brother of the Corr family - vocalist Andrea, drummer Caroline, violinist Sharon and guitarist/keyboard player Jim - the Corrs blend the music of their Irish background with contemporary pop/rock and occasional use of synthesizers. The quartet formed in 1991, and was confined to regional popularity in Ireland until 1994, when the American ambassador to the country invited the Corrs to perform at the 1994 World Cup in Boston. The Corrs' debut album Forgiven, Not Forgotten became internationally popular, but nowhere more so than their homeland, where the LP's four-times-platinum status made it one of the most popular debuts by an Irish group. Talk on Corners followed in 1998, and was reissued in expanded form early the following year. The group returned to the studio and produced a fourth album in 2000, In Blue. Home arrived in 2005, followed by All the Way Home A History of the Corrs in 2006
The Members of the Corrs ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sharon Helga Corr, she was born March 24 1970 in Dundalk, Ireland she is a musician and member of the Irish folk-rock band The Corrs. She plays the violin and sings backing vocals. At 5ft 5, Sharon is the tallest of the three sisters, and the second tallest of the four siblings, after her elder brother Jim.
Caroline Georgina Corr, she was born 17th March, 1973 she is the drummer for the folk-rock band The Corrs. Caroline is 5ft 4, the second shortest after Andrea. In addition to the drums, Caroline also plays the bodhran, piano, and occasional backing vocals.
Andrea Jane Corr, she was born 17th May 1974 is the lead singer for the Irish folk-rock band The Corrs. She also plays the tin whistle. She was born in Dundalk, Ireland, the youngest of the four. She stands 5ft 1 tall, making her the shortest of the four Corr siblings.
James Steven Ignatius "Jim" Corr, he was born 31st July 1964 he is the guitarist for the Irish folk-rock band The Corrs. He is also the eldest and the only male sibling in the group. Although he is only 5ft 8, he is still the tallest of the group. He also plays the Acoustic and Electric Guitars, as well as the Piano, Keyboard and Background Vocal
Tracks on this fabulous album ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Would you be happier: Released in 2001 the lyrics to this song are very catchy and easy to understand the tempo starts off slow in the verse's but when it gets to the chorus it starts getting a bit faster with more instruments, I like this song it's one of the best songs they have done I find myself taping my feet along to the beat of this song. Time this song lasts: 3mins 26 seconds
2. So Young: Released in 1997 This song is a get up and go song it's one of my Karaoke classics I remember getting on the stage when I was 14 years old and singing my heart out to this song at my local public house its amazing what flash back I have when I listen to this song all good of course this song has got a great beat which is caused by all the amazing instruments played by the Corrs themselves this is one of many of my favorites of all times Time this song lasts: 4mins 14 seconds
3. Runaway: Released in 1995 this song is a soothing and romantic song slow and steady beat and really easy to listen to this song is on my top ten of all times its good to put on if you have had a stressful day at work or was school for me this song always relaxes me anytime of the day Time this song lasts 3mins 47 seconds
4. Breathless: Released in 2000 this song is like a medium dance song it's got a great beat to it the lyrics are easy to take in and learn especially if you fancy singing along to it I can always remember the video to this song this song is very catchy in more ways then one I think I play this song a bit too much and get on my husbands nerves with it I know I only do it to wind him up lol Time this song lasts: 3mins 26 seconds
5. Radio: Released in 1999 me myself is not too keen on this song but still has a catchy beat in the chorus but can get quite repetitive after a while this song is great if you are having one of those days where something's gone wrong and you are trying to figure out how to fix it Time this song lasts: 4mins 14 seconds
6. What can I do?: Released in 1998 there was originally 2 versions of this song an upbeat and a tin tin version on this CD it's the tin tin version which is good because you can understand what they are singing and there voices don't get faded out by the instruments this is a song I used to listen to quite often while eating a romantic meal in Time this song lasts: 4mins 15 seconds
7. This is the right time: Released in 1995 I don't remember this song when I was younger but it does grow on you it shows off there Irish instruments you can here the tin whistle and the flute in this song the song and the lyrics are great and easy to follow I once tried this song on a tin whistle but unfortunately couldn't get the hang of it Time this song lasts: 4mins 7 seconds
8. I never loved you anyway: Released in 1997 this song is on my top ten songs of all times Andrea has a really powerful voice on this song and also Sharon plays a little violin solo on this song. This song starts slow but gradually as the song goes on it starts to get faster as it gets to the chorus the meaning of this song is she's happy that the guy she broke up with is leaving but is sad about not leaving him first Time this song lasts: 3mins 54 seconds
9. Irresistible: Released in 2000 this song makes me feel happy due to all the memories it brings back with me and my friend dancing and singing along to it in her back garden this song has a bit of a solo with an electric guitar done by none other the Jim Corr Time this song lasts: 3mins 40 seconds
10. Forgiven not forgotten: Released in 1995 is more of a ballad song and very repetitive. This song is emotional if you listen to the lyrics and the music this is not my kind of song but still a good song done by the Corrs it's a relaxation song a very laid back one Time this song lasts: 4mins 17 seconds
11. Lough Erin Shore: Released in 1999 this version on the CD is the live and unplugged version its starts off with the violin and drums and then a tin whistle is played this song is all music no singing at all. This instrumental is very relaxing great if you like listening to music in the bath Time this song lasts: 4mins 28 seconds
12. Only when I sleep: Released in 1995 this song is more of a rock song on this CD This is a great song with a fantastic beat the instrument that stands out most at the beginning is the drums played by Jim Corr but near the end the flute is the more dominant instrument I love this song Time this song lasts: 3mins 51 seconds
13. Love to love you: Released in 1995 this song has no introduction starts in right away this is a very romantic song with a good beat and very relaxing I always seem to tap my feet every time I hear this song Time this song lasts: 3mins 23 seconds
14. All the love in the world: Released in 2000 this song has a great beat it's a kind of song that you can drift away in, in to the land of dreams like I do I like this song as it relaxes me and makes me think of how life is and how happy I am to be who I am Time this song lasts: 3mins 56 seconds
15. Everybody Hurts: Released in 1992 but this song has also been released by R.E.M this song is a really heartfelt song and very warming inside this song always makes me cry for reasons I cannot say but I still like this song not one of my favorites list though Time this song lasts: 5mins 49 seconds
16. Give me a reason Released in 2000 this song shows of the traditional Irish music with the tin whistle at places this song can get repetitive but it has a great beat and great lyrics and the vocal sound effects are great and different Time this song lasts: 3mins 29 seconds
17. Dreams Released in 1998 This is my all time favorite so far for what the Corrs have done I remember this song very well as I once joined the choir at my first high school when I was in year 9 I got to do my first solo for the show in front of the whole school and in front of friends and family of students at the school I think that was the second best feeling in my life this song is great and easy to sing along to it has a great beat once the song starts. It starts of slow but gradually gets faster Time this song lasts: 4mins 1 second
18. Make you mine Released in 2001 this song is not a bad song but not one of my favorites the verse's are a bit slow but the chorus is faster the pitch of the instruments change in strange but good places and the vocal effects are great Time this song lasts: 3mins 15 seconds
