Advantages: crunching rock, emotive ballads Disadvantages: not for everyone
...smile every time.
Score: 8.5/10
Best Bit: the following lyrics: “His sword is sharp and hard as stone, her cauldron begs for one more bone”
Walk On Down (JoePerry)
This song would be fairly unremarkable if it wasn’t for the fact that JoePerry sings it. Joe singing isn’t without precedent however, as band history boffins (like me) will tell you that Joe left Aerosmith in 1979 and during the early 1980s sung on 3 albums as the ‘JoePerryProject’. However this is the first Aerosmith song that he assumes the full vocal duties for, and as a traditional guitar rocker, this is a good track and serves as a nice, well timed, change/break. His voice isn’t anything like Steve Tyler’s, but that is a good thing as it has different qualities, and to this day Joe usually sings lead vocals once...

Advantages: It's Aerosmith Disadvantages: Only 9 Tracks
...and is a catchy tune. Much easier to sing a long to than the last track. A nice simple track.
Critical Mass. Duration: 4:52
Written By: Steven Tyler, Tom Hamilton, Douglas
Starting with the drums, bass and guitars fading on, it then a establishes a nice beat. Followed by Tylers' hollowing yells of: "Arriving in boats! Black hooded coats". This track includes a piano in the background but is no where near a ballard, it is a nice bluesy - rock song. One of the best lines being: "Celebrate, celebrate, celebrake it! This is critical mass!" which is projected by Tyler's shouts. It is one of my favourite tracks on the album for sure because it's just something different.
Get It Up. Duration: 4:02
Written by: Steven Tyler/ JoePerry
This sounds similar to "Draw The Line" instrument wise. I didn't use to be a fan of this song as it just didn't do...

...Done With Mirrors - Aerosmith
Geffen Records, 1985
Aerosmith are -
Steven Tyler - vocals
JoePerry - Guitar
Brad Whitford - Guitar
Tom Hamilton - Bass
Joey Kramer - Drums
Done with mirrors was Aerosmiths' first outing for Geffen Records, having been signed to Columbia Records since their first album, Aerosmith, in 1973. The mid-80's was not a good period for Aerosmith. Drugs had taken their toll and both JoePerry and Brad Whitford left the band for a while. This album, however, marks the turning point in Aerosmiths return to the big time. It is a slow start, but it is a start.
After 1983's album 'Rock in a Hard place', featuring Jimmy Crespo instead of JoePerry it was clear that Aerosmith just could not cut it without the songwriting partnership of Tyler/Perry. JoePerry's new band The JoePerryProject was also failing to find...
