Advantages: Good start
Disadvantages: Tails off, gets a bit samey - it's a LOW three stars, not as good as AntiChrist Super Star or Mechanical Animals

.... Which itself gives way to a more straight forward angry section which then itself wonders off to let an angrier bit come in. Once again it’s the by numbers thing but with good numbers. * Snake Eyes and Sissies * A sort of lop sided funk metal sound starts the song off before Manson pops in with some vocals as the song turns once again into Manson by numbers but good numbers and with a synth joining in. There’s even a bit where it sounds like Manson sings “I was criticised by Shangri-Las” when in fact he sings “I was prophesised by Shangri-Las”. Which makes much more sense… I think. The best bit though would be the stomping chorus “I ain’t no workin’ ma, I do the best I can, I got the devil’s hand, rollin’ sixes”. * My Monkey * Definitely a song of two parts... Read review

...Imagine if you threw in all the classic girl groups into a blender. You would end up with my new favourite band, the Pipettes,. This all female, polka dot clad, indie pop trio consisting of Gwenno, Rosay, and Riot Becki have created a fantastic album full of catchy,sassy, fun, up beat three minute (and under) pop songs with the odd ballad thrown in for good measures. Their formula for success is simple. The first thing you will need is a classic 1960s girl group. I would recommend someone with a pedigree such as the Shirelles, the Ronnettes or the Shangri las. You need to take some of their best song such as “ Will You Still Love me Tomorrow” “Be my Baby” or “Leader of the Pack”. (All classics that truly last the test of time). You now need to extract the classic production involving intricate stings and brass arrangements... Read review

...chaos', the band generally included three girl singers, and therefore naturally tended towards early Sixties pop material sung by girl groups such as the Shangri-Las, the Ronettes and the Supremes. In the serious, slightly stodgy music biz of the early 1970's, this was considered a highly unusual basis from which to work. Debbie had been in other bands before but the Stilettoes was the first one which also featured her boyfriend, guitarist and songwriter Chris Stein, who was committed to making this into something more than just a hobby, and the band eventually transmuted into Blondie in 1974, including future Television bass player Fred Smith. Like many of the hip new things Stateside, they were quickly adopted by the fans of British New Wave in the mid-70's as being slightly more intelligent than the standard punk warriors... Read review
