Advantages: great big band music Disadvantages: none
...The Glenn Miller Orchestra UK was founded by Ray McVay in the 80's . This was done after talks with the Glenn Miller Estate, who had listened to many of Ray McVay's tracks.
Who is Ray McVay?
Ray McVay was born in the late 30's in Scotland. He became a professional musician at the tender age of 13 as a rocking sax player. In the 50's he became a music director for many big names such as Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Conway Twitty and Billy Fury.
As Rays name got bigger and better known in the music industry, and fronted his own show band known as the Ray McVay Orchestra. ...Thanks to Robert Rodriguez and his movies, “Tito & Tarantula“ are quite well-known. The band from L.A. around lead singer Tito Larriva is responsible for parts of the O.S.R. of the famous movies “Desperado” and “From Dusk Till Dawn”.
“Tarantism” was released in 1997, the band itself was formed some years before. Band leader Tito Larriva is a native Mexican and no freshman in show business. Tito is also centre of the band, playing guitar and doing the lead vocals. Besides him there is his old friend...

It is easy to equate the man today, with his awful music and 'heal the world, feed the children, save the elephants' posturing, with the sheer insanity we see in his daily life, but I find it hard to consider that the same man made some of the best music of the 1970's and 80's. At some point along the line, something in his head flipped.
Anyway, closing the album is TitoPuente with 'Mambo Gozon', which closes the album in classy style. I remember TitoPuente from his appearance on 'The Simpsons' years ago as the new jazz teacher at the school, and I had assumed that he was just a fictional character. Ah well, you live, you learn. There are also three hidden tracks on the album, some very funny mock jingles...
