Advantages: a New Wave snapshot Disadvantages: all too brief
...Costellos "awkward"persona .
This is not his best album but it is the sound of his initiation into sometime greatness and baffling mediocrity that still intrigues music lovers today and probably tomorrow,a perfect marriage of singer and band nurturing and suffocating each other in equal measure ,Costello like a mischievious Peter Cooke and The Attractions cast as the unrecognised real genius and stablising force of Dudley Moore.
If pop history is your bag then put "This Years Model" in it,take it home .crank it up and wallow in its real nerve and anger and think better of the man from there on in ,for the cautious but curious imagine Blondies future retro blueprint but withiut milk and sugar and you might be some way there ....

Advantages: Some true classics including Solsbury hill, Modern love and Here comes the flood and well it's PETER GABRIEL!!!!!!!! Disadvantages: Some weak songs Peter Gabriel is still adapting to a solo career so it's a varied album
.... There are three songs on this album, which are superb works of art and really stood out for me Solsbury hill, Modern love and Here comes the flood. Solsbury hill is perhaps his most famous single apart from Sledgehammer of course, which has to be one of the best pop songs of all time.
The production of the album as a whole is fair but I get the impression that Gabriel had too many different ideas for songs running through his head and only picked a few good songs out of the had and left the other behind. Some songs on the album are obviously over produced such as 'Here comes the flood' which messes the consistency of the album out of shape as others are underproduced to the point of being as bare as early man, but as always you can rely on Peter Gabriel to produce something special.

This shows a black-and-white picture of PeterRowan, the younger brother of Guggi, the singer of the "Virgin Prunes" and one of the best personal friends of Bono. Now he's a little older and more known than at times of "Boy". The face should indicate "fear", in addition the bandname U2 and the title War is to be seen suitably in red and exclusively capital letters. If anybody might know more about PeterRowan, who adorns a numerous of covers on U2-records, I recommend him a visit of the following web page.
