that--famously--made John Peel cry the first time he heard it. Deceptively simple, it's a mass of adolescent hormones, which fitted Fergal Sharkey's wobbly voice so perfectly. There are 25 tracks of raw punky pop, yet it's still the obvious ones that stand out. "My Perfect Cousin" highlights teenage jealousy, a sneering attack on any family member who can do no wrong, while "When Saturday Comes" (the title of which was later nicked for a famous football fanzine) takes a more melodic, introspective path. Teenage Kicks is a great introduction to this understated influential band, and certainly beats any of Sharkey's later solo efforts. --Emma Johnston
Advantages: pure adolescent nostalgia Disadvantages: makes you feel old
...what can i say that has not been already said. the undertones where probably the most underatted band of the 70's.born in derry northern ireland this 5 piece combo wrote simplistic 3 minute pure pop about everyday teenage life.including songs about mars bars and their cousin kevin.forever remembered for john peels favourite song of all time teenagekicks to my favourite youv'e got my number which has probably got one of the greatest guitar intros of all time.from post punk to eternal soul this band had everything.stiil influencing modern bands who have covered their music including ash and teen idols busted.so if you get a chance to chill out and listen to one of their albums grab it and as they are now reformed do not i repeat do not turn down the chance to see them live they would quite simply blow any other band off stage. so please...

Advantages: 26 Top Quality Songs! Disadvantages: The neighbours will tell you to turn the volume down! :P
...' Are teenagekicks, so hard to beat?' This is truly, one of the best songs EVER, and you can't listen without singing no matter how crap a singer you are!
6 Wrong Way
--> ' Stop treating me this way girl, cause you know I meant no harm, is this the way you want it be no, my heads going round and round'
7 Jump Boys
--> This song has a great intro, with a guitar solo then a quick fill on the drums to bring in the rest of the band. Its quick and quirky in the verse and declares ' Jump Boys ' in the chorus, this is one of those songs that gets your knees moving. Throughout the guitar continues with it's tune to keep it going, and fittingly, ends on the note it started.
8 Here Comes The Summer [Original Version]
--> This is a summer song, and im not really a fan of this song yet it is a popular undertones song. This is maybe one of the most pop...

Advantages: you love us Disadvantages: no motown junk
...where do you start. Coming straight out of wales with true punk attitude and some great tunes.
There are songs which you will never forget. "You love us" is great. "motorcycle emptiness" has great memories.
These guys were on a mission, they had a lot to say. They have anger and great tunes. A brilliant combination. There is conflict and beauty in every tune.
The make up of the band and in particular the relationship between Richey and Nicky means that the songs have purpose, beauty, drive and a momentum that carries you from start to finish
The only thing missing is the lack of "Motown Junk". Its there strongest song. To me its the equivalent of teenagerkicks by the undertones. Without it though, its still a great album
thought provoking and meaningful...
