Advantages: a brief but insightful overview of the band Disadvantages: no singleCD is big enough to fully show their genius
...it is easily their best known song.
"The Crystal Ship" carries us away to the other spectrum of the band. A vocal dominated mellow number that sees the music in a subservient role to Morrison's honey voice. I must admit that its not a song that I expected to see on an album such as this but it does show the band in their mellow reflective mood. It has to be said that drugs and in Morrison's case alcohol played a massive part in the bands creativity. Whilst this song is comparable to other bands, namely Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead, whose creative engine ran on marijuana, The Doors in general have a darker and sharper edge to their work fuelled by Speed and LSD. Whilst most of the American west coast was trying to love the world, the Doors wanted to rip it to shreds.
The dulcet tones of the front man open up "People Are Strange...

Advantages: Lots of well known tracks, good british music Disadvantages: None
...to the track list, there is an eight page message written by Jeff Lynne, together with accompanying photographs of previous concerts and band line-ups.
*** So would I recommend this album? ***
Yes, most definitely. My personal favourites on this album have to be Mr Blue Sky, Evil Woman, Don't Bring me Down, Sweet Talkin' Woman, Telephone Line, Wild West Hero and Livin' Thing. This is probably because these were some of ELO's biggest hits, had the most airplay, and therefore are the most familiar. But as I mentioned earlier, there will be a lot of tracks on the album that are not instantly recognisable, and I would recommend you have a listen before writing the album off because so many of them will sound familiar once you hear them.
Thanks for reading and hope you enjoy!

Advantages: As refreshing as the first album Disadvantages: Unmemorable in comparison to "College Dropout"

3. "Touch the Sky"
Everyone always says that they recognize the sample from this, but I'm yet to hear anyone specifically name Cutris Mayfield's "Move On Up" as wherthis track around, and this is a very imporant aspect to it when you consider the lyrics o this and of the original (displaying that Ye didn't just use it because of the melodies). It is also the introduction to Lupe Fiasco, who took a lot of influence from Kanye, and it all come out in his delivery here.
**Three Stars**
4. "Gold Digger"
This was for me the best follw-up track by Kanye and Jamie Foxx together in a collaboration after "Slow Jamz", and I expect that many feel the same as it went on to become one of his more well-known tracks. After being over-played onsiderably when...
