...The band to start all bands...This album contains the best from the Yardbirds throughout time including tracks with Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck when they were with the band. The songs which stand out are ultimately FOR YOUR LOVE, HEART FULL OF SOUL, EVIL HEARTED YOU, SHAPES OF THINGS, THE TRAIN KEPT A-ROLLIN', AIN'T GOT YOU AND SMOKESTACK LIGHTNING but loads more are included on this double album set. Many bands have been influenced by this British Premier R&B rock band yet they covered their fair share of great artists themselves. Blues legend tracks - John Lee Hooker's BOOM BOOM and Jimmy Reed's BABY WHATS WRONG are also included. This is a great way to hear what ultimately is the best of the Yardbirds.... Read review

..., percussion and piano *Carl Radle: Bass and percussion *Duane Allman (from "The Allamn Brothers"): Guitars The album was released at 1970, after "The Yardbirds" and "Cream", but before this long solo Clapton's period. The album, don't need to say probably, is very bluesy (now you guess why my nickname?), and personally, I think is the best album Eric Clapton have ever released. "Dereck and the Dominos" was meant to be a proper long time band, and though they did well with their first album, it was also the last one (yes, there are a few bootleg ones too, with out-takes and live performances, but this and a concert album are the only oficials one). The cover is kinda weird, with a picture of a woman with flowers on her hair and a few colours in the background (white, yellow, red,...). Inside, there's a nice booklet with loads of photographs... ...Clapton Chronicles Released in 1999, Clapton Chronicles is the Greatest Hits compilation of a musician who has been performing at the top flight since his first band, 'The Yardbirds' in 1963. He has released a phenomenal amount of albums with a number of different bands, including Derek and the Dominos and Cream. This compilation comprises some of his solo hits from 1984 to 1999. Clapton's style of blues mixed with a rock ballad style has made him legendary as a guitarist as well as a vocalist. Clapton Chronicles features many instantly recognisable tracks, including 'Layla', written for Patti Boyd, his wife until 1989 when they divorced, and a live version of 'Wonderful Tonight', which is perhaps considered Clapton's signature tune.
