.... The guitar solos fit perfectly over with tight overdriven solos that seem to have no key yet fit so well and are so very hard to recreate from a guitarists viewpoint. Overall this album is surreal, yet it is surreal perfection. Everything from the cover art to the lyrics are psycotic. There are themes of old seamanship, smalltown America, animal personification and a good old dose of John Cleese style swearing. Overall I truly believe this is a great album... but if you are new to Primus, their best of album 'They Can't all Be Zingers' (Also cheese themed) is maybe a better start. Best Tracks Here most definitely 'Jerry was a race car driver' and 'Tommy the Cat' Which incidentally features Tom Waits another master of the surreal. This album is worth buying for those tracks alone, coupled with the art work. Also brilliant for musicians wanting...

...Nominated by Q magazine for the Best Album of the Year in 1995.
This is a great album of guitar-based adult alternative and rock music. The 12 tracks range from beautiful ballads such as "Driving with the Brakes On" to the energised "Start With Me" and also includes their hit single "Roll To Me".
The band sounds tight-knit and Justin Currie's sensual voice is very easy on the ears. The lyrics being interesting and varied.

...Taking tracks from Led Zeppelin I and II this album shows how timeless their music remains. The first album is in a way very different from what was to follow and stylistically owes a lot to Jimmy Page's previous band, The Yardbirds. Even Page's trademark guitar, the Les Paul, is missing from the first album which was recorded mainly with a psychedelicly painted Telecaster (which now resides on the wall of the Hard Rock Cafe, Whistler). From the start though, its clear to hear the tightness of the band. Every member, from John Paul Jones' locked in bass playing to Robert Plant's howling vocals fit together perfectly in this mix of blues and hard rock. Many of the acoustic to rock switches that Page incorporates into later classics like Stairway to Heaven can be first heard here too....
