...This album reminds you just how incredibly good Van Morrison is. From the initial cheerful melodies of “Bright Side Of The Road” to the closing moments of the final track, “Dweller On The Threshold,” I was completely hooked. Classic hits such as “Moondance,” “Brown Eyed Girl” and the ultimate love song “Have I Told You Lately” are all on here, along with songs you may not be so familiar with. However, it is these songs which give you the nicest surprise, for they are all instant classics themselves, with “Did Ye Get Healed” and “Queen Of The Slipstream” as standout tunes. You don’t need to be a Van Morrison fan to love this album.... Read review

...After working in pubs for a while I got addicted to chilling with this guy on many occassion. Listening to 'Brown Eyed Girl' become a regular pastime at the pub. This is a great album with such brilliant tracks like: *Gloria *Bright Side of The Road *Dweller on the Threshold *Have I Told You Lately To name just a few. I don't know exactly what it is about Van Morrison that draws me so much, whether you normally find him singing in the local pub or whether his voice and music is calming and soothing. His love ballads are beautiful and the song 'Have I Told You Lately ....(that i love you), will be remembered by all.... Read review

...The shops are awash with "Best of" compilations which turn out to contain one top twenty single and a heap of instantly forgettable fillers. It is very rare to find one which is packed full of quality music. The Best of Van Morrison is one of the later. Make no mistake, this is the genuine article. This CD contains twenty mainly outstanding tracks from Ireland's hero. If you think you don't know any Van songs then this recording may surprise you. It certainly surprised me. The majority of these tracks are commonplace on the likes of Virgin and Radio 2's Johnny Walker show. (and no doubt on other decent radio stations I don't get in deepest Aberdeenshire) While a little young for Van at his peak I was aware of his music although I had never bought any. A couple of weeks of listening to a Napster download of "Brown Eyed Girl" persuaded... Read review
