...- The story - Ben has ten hens, one of which a.k.a. Jen goes missing. Some men offer to help find Jen........They hunt in different places like the sheep's pen and Ben's den. Eventually they find Jen in a bucket of what can only be described as 'slops' in the pig pen. So as you can see, the story is full of rhyming phonetic words. - Style, Format and Educational Values - The series of books is 'designed to help the development of literacy skills in children learning to read and spell three letter words or as I call them CVC words. This book is one of 5 books in an excellent series of books called 'Fun with Phonics' This is quite a large book and is unusual in it's layout. Advantages: Good short stories
Disadvantages: couple not so go good stories

...Paul jennings is simply the best. He writes possibly the best short stories about quirky weird possibly random things. I have read this book over and over again. This is a amazing bedtime story as it captures the childs imagination inspiringly. Paul jennings is the writer to inroduce to your children if they dont read. The wierdeststory for me has tobe where a boy falls in love withand ice sculpture and admires it and whenit gets chucked out he does the most silly thing ever. Gets stuck to it. The boy then jumps in the sea to tryand melt it off when it does he gets dragged out the water opens his eyes and is looking at the girl who inspired the ice sculpture to be made. Advantages: It's a mysterious, magical fantasy
Disadvantages: It is actually creepy in parts!

First released in 1982 this film was not a box office smash but continued to intrigue audiences world wide. The DVD copy I have was released in 2004. Brian Froud was the designer of the sets and the creator of the characters.
