Advantages: Boisterous, hilarious, energetic rap music Disadvantages: A little purile, too many party tracks, not enough contemplation
...Release Date: October 17, 2000
Label: Def Jam South
This is Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges' first studio album on the Def Jam South record label, a repackaging of the highly successful independent debut release 'Incognegro' with four new collaborations to give 'Back For The First Time' more comercially attractiveness. The fact that the album is very similar to his first album means that much of the raw, underground energy of Ludacris's lyrics and the lively production of Shondrae (for whom 'Back For The First Time' is also a debut), is retained.
There are 16 tracks on the album:
1. U Got A Problem? 6/10
- A solid bassy opening, not one of the standout tracks of the album however.
2. Game Got Switched 7/10
- This is produced by renouned Atlanta rap producers 'Organized Noize', best known for the hit 'Waterfalls' by TLC and work with rap...

Advantages: Soothing, laid back, top guitar and piano Disadvantages: Some slightly weaker tracks
...it get washed away to other places – is a good one, and the gentle approach of the track draws you right in.
- Tamatave
Woo – foreign! There's a certain mystique about songs with lines in a foreign language (French in this case). The chorus here goes 'Tamatave je t'entends m'appeler' which means "Tamatave, I hear you calling me". It's sounds wonderful with the crisp piano sound, and the steady vocal style.
- God Gave Me An Angel
Sweeping down on the southern breeze towards the end of the album, this is quite funky track, but in a laid back way of course! More beautiful piano work again, and certainly an appearance or two of the Hammond organ! Top track.
- Waiting For A Blue Sky
This is one of the best tracks on the album, simply on the strength of the wonderful guitar solos that are in evidence here. It's quite a quirky song overall...

Advantages: Great guitar work, good lyrics Disadvantages: Some dodgy tracks
...-piece track makes an excellent start to the album.
- Solomon Bites The Worm
The first single from the album, and arguably the best. Creating rather a Mexican feel to the song with the vocals over the intro, and the rather interesting organ that accompanies them. It's quite a playful song, with the obligatory impressive guitar work, and a few effects that add a rather bizarre tone to the song. The lyrics are quite interesting too:
" Pack up your troubles now/ Take all you can carry/ On your way; your way/ Just remember this time/ You know you've only got seven days"
It's quite interesting in it's style, and the kind of song that will really get the crowd going at a gig, as it's packed full of energy just waiting to be released on the unsuspecting public.
- U.T.A.
Rather a bleak track, on the face of it, talking of the price of freedom. Distorted...

Advantages: amazing guitar work with super cool rock lyrics! Disadvantages: none
...This album rocks! There's not one thing that I don't like about it. The title track "Burning organ" reveals some of Paul Gilbert's amazing blues guitar influences and is put very well with the organ which I think is a hammond organ. It is an instrumental song and is one of the best tracks on the album. The song "My Religion" is a beautiful pop style ballad but still involves some very complicated guitar playing to make it Gilbert style! My favourite song on the album is "Bliss" mainly because of the blistering fast guitar solo but also because of the super cool rock lyrics! If you like Paul Gilbert's guitar playing but would like to hear him sing too this is the album for you! One of Gilbert's best albums!...

Advantages: too many to mention Disadvantages: none
...breathtaking, the guitar (used as an instrument of rhythm) cuts like a knife, chopping on extremely irregular beat pattern while the bass thumps hypnotically and occasional swirls of hammond organ cover everything in glorious sunshine.
The irrepressible Brown is at his best on songs like the blaxploitation inspired, The Payback where he comes across as every bit the tough gangster
"I can do wheeling,I can do dealing, but I don't do no damn squealing".
The best song on the album however is the truly majestic Funky Drummer. A hypnotic trumpet riff is clothed in august hammond organ and supported by staccato rhythmguitar....

Advantages: A characteristically great album from a great band in their prime. Disadvantages: Some of the out-takes really should be taken out!
..., but one that rocks along, fiddly organ and guitar solos play off each other in a way that is synonymous to Deep Purple before Gillan's screaming brings the band back together for the final fling.
4/5
2) Bloodsucker - great riff that is really heard (and felt) best when you turn up every bass option your stereo system has, not a track done justice on a laptop.
3.5/5
3) Child in time - a famous song for Deep Purple fans, not si much for a non-fan, it's track length of over 10 minutes doesn't really make it suitable for radio play! A spookily sounding organ intro. is joined by Gillans softly sung: "sweet child in time, you'll see the line" and from that moment on I'm hooked. His voice becomes louder, the organ more prominant and we're off for musical wizzardry! Gillan's "oooo, oooo, oooo" leads to ahhh, ahhh, ahhh" before eventually...
