Pat Benatar was born Patricia Andrzejewski on the 10th of January,1953 in Brooklyn USA. She began singing regularly in the New York City area,in a bar called "Catch A Rising Star" and was discovered by Chrysalis Records,who then signed her to their label.
She was backed by Neil Giraldo,whom she went on to marry.With Neil by her side she effortlessly alternated between rock and powerful ballads.
In 1979 her debut album "In The Heart of The night" produced hits like "I Need a Lover" and "Heartbreaker" which were written by a then unknown called John Cougar Mellencamp.
Crimes of Passion was released in 1980,and delivered on her debut's promise,and it is regarded as the finest album of her career.With hits like "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", "Treat Me Right" and "You Better Run". The album soon reached platinum shortly after its release.
Pat also earned herself several Grammy Awards in the early and mid 80's.She won a Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal performance,and followed that up by nabbing the Grammy in this category for the next three years.
In 1991 she released an R&B/Blues album called "True Love". She then released two more hits,and floods of hits for the next five years.
Pat returned to recording in 2003 with "Go" her first LP since 1997,and started touring again ,much to the delight or her fans everywhere,She took this time off to look after her children.
2004 saw Pat listed in Classic Rock Magazine as one of the top 100 frontmen (?).
Pat now lives in Maui,Hawaii, and she is now ready to head out on tour again,secure in the fact that she made an indelible mark in the Rock World.
