Advantages: its fantastic Disadvantages: not enough airplay
...I lost my heart to a Starship Trooper. The immortal words from Sarah Brightman and Hot Gossip. I apologise that this opinion is under the wrong heading but I know they used this song for the promotion of Starship Troopers.
Produced in the late seventies I think this is one of those underated songs in the history of music.
This song is astoundingly quite groundbreaking for the decade in which it was released. Its use of samples and special effects of lasers was a relatively new idea at the time put that together with a fantastic singer like Sarah Brightman and a catchy chorus line which has all looking up at the stars.
This catchy little number reflected the Stars Wars phenomena that had taken the world by storm at that time, but actually what we see in this little piece of music is the ground work being done for the electronic sounds...

Advantages: Highly original Japanese band Disadvantages: Some dodgy lyrics, poor artwork
...into another verse. Then back in with the real drums. It's very dark sounding this track. It's different from the others because it doesn't sound at all punky. There's a weird sort of slowing down sound before going back to the verse again. I probably wouldn't have thought it was the same band. Then in come some guitars that remind me of Rammstein. Still very dark sounding. The guitar is playing the same chord over and over at a weird rhythm. The track doesn't speed up or have the normal changes heard in the previous tracks. Advantages: Lots of hits, great sound quality, one of the best bands ever Disadvantages: Short playing time, not as good as "Rock In Rio"
...of songs from the later albums and just a very few older tracks. The only real surprise being Blaze Bayley-Song "Lord Of The Flies" from the X-Factor-album. The Highlights are of course the songs from the latest album "Dance Of Death", like the solid rocker "Rainmaker", the ballad-like "Journeyman" or even the groovy "No More Lies". Absolute high spots are the dramatic operas "Dance Of Death" and the amazing "Paschendale", a powerful epic poem in three acts, having everything what a contemporary but traditional Heavy Metal song needs; heavy riffs, great solos, stunning acoustic parts, extraordinary singing. A little paradise. I love it.
Further favourites of mine a the more dynamic version of "Can I Play With Madness", "Brave New World" and the best Maiden song ever in my opinion, "Fear Of The Dark". Short and fast classics like "The Trooper...
