...over"
After this the band went on to release a further 3 recorded albums, a rarities album and a best of.
Then in 1994 the band decided to call it a day, Thursday I think?
They all went their separate directions, the end.
Oh but wait then they decided actually its Friday so lets start again…..
2007 they return!
In between all this getting days and stuff mixed up Neil Finn did some solo stuff, all very good but it lacked the feel of a proper Crowded House sound.
Then in a nice blues brothers esque moment the remaining members of the band started to say lets get the band back together, this was all on the back of Neil Finns latest piece of work which people said had a distinct crowded house sound to it, this work later became Life on earth, which is what I'm reviewing!

...When you listen to this album you will recognise most of the tracks, but you may not have realised that Belinda Carlisle sang them.
She seems to be type of artist that most people know her name and know the songs, but don’t always put the two together.
This is very enjoyable album to listen to at any time and has a very cheerful feel to it.
There are 10 tracks on the album:
Heaven Is A Place On Earth.
This is the title track of the album and one of Belinda Carlisle’s most famous hits. It is a very lively track and certainly makes you forget any troubles you may have. Just relax and sing along, it is a great song.
Circle In The Sand.
This is a slightly slower track and has a haunting sound to it. Again it is a very well known song with a very catchy chorus.
I Feel Free.
When you hear this track...

Advantages: Gorgeous music, played with much passion Disadvantages: None really
...and this is evident here right from the start.
There is some beautiful dialogue between solo cellist and orchestra in particular with the 1st clarinet - very well played by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Most of the time Carlos Kalmar keeps them on a tight leash, enabling clear and transparent textures, yet always allowing the soloist to sing through, but at one point where there is a fortissimo climax leading up to an ecstatic statement of the main theme - he lets the orchestra loose - and one can hear them revelling in the moment! Great climax which makes you wish you were playing!
Listening to this easily accessible and instantly enjoyable piece, one wonders why on earth it is not more often played or heard. Perhaps it is because it has the most exquisitely subtle ending where the cello flies upwards into the heaven...
