I was first introduced to Haven about two weeks ago on a grey day when I was stuck in the car with a friend on a very very long trip to Cornwall. She had their album in the car and put it on for me to listen to and from then I was hooked.

I hadn’t heard much about them but I had heard their single ‘Say Something’ played on the radio but I didn’t know it was them. This is where my investigations began!

The group consists of Gary Briggs – vocals, Nat Watson – guitarist, Iwan Gronow – bassist and Tom Lewis – drummer. They started off in Cornwall and then in 1999 relocated to Manchester where they finally managed to start doing some gigs that would eventually get them noticed.

Between the senses is their debut album and is a very chilled out album. It’s the kind of music that you can put on after a rubbish day, pour yourself a glass of wine and just relax to.

It has twelve tracks as follows:

Til the end (it is spelt correctly!)
Lately
Let it live
Is this bliss
Keep on giving in
Holding on

I’m not going to compare them to a string of other groups because that wouldn’t be right as I think they should be merited on their own work. To be honest a lot of tracks on the album are quite similar in sound because Gary Briggs has a very distinguished, soulful voice, but having said that it is not a bad thing. This is why I haven’t written a description next to each track.

If you are looking for an up and coming band and want something with fantastic vocals then go for this and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

I purchased the album from www.cdwow.com for a fantastic £8.99 including P&P but prices do vary from high street shops.
