Advantages: Brings a sense of wonder back to cinema Disadvantages: May not be to everyone's taste
successful endeavour that must have taken all of the effects houses involved months to create. To be fair, they had a strong frame of reference, as much of the film is set in a heightened version of 1930s New York, so everything is influenced by the art deco style of the period. Real buildings from the era have been matted in, while others have been created digitally and sandwiched between them to give a more unified look. The result is a breathtaking cityscape that no longer exists in the real world. The deco style extends to everything from vehicles to props and is particularly noticeable in the design of Dr Totenkopf?s robots, some of which have been plundered wholesale from Fleischer?s ?Superman? series. My husband and I both enjoy watching television series on DVD and have quite a collection, so we try to watch new ones as often as we can. To make it fair, we recently decided to write down all the titles on slips of paper and do a draw, to choose what we watch next. So it was that Between the Lines - Series 1 became our choice of series to watch.
Hubby had bought all three series of Between the Lines on DVD, but only recently persuaded me to watch one. I didn't know much about the series at all, as it was shown in 1992, when I was rather busy with a small baby! So this was the first time I had ever seen an episode.
