Advantages: Quaint, great antique shops, a Minster, Traditional Market, pretty town Disadvantages: Maybe too quiet for some
beverley Racecourse is on the right and Beverley Westwood on the left. The Westwood is a pretty area of common land which used to have cows roaming free on it. It is slightly hilly and locals, with sleges, descend on mass on the Westwood at the first sign of significant snow falls. It is a nice area for a picnic in summer as well.
For those of you into fishing there is a river and good fishing at nearby Tickton. The area around Beverley Beck has been developed of late.
Beverley is recommended for a day trip or as a place to stay. As a base it is great for exploring Yorkshire and it is fairly close to Leeds, Hull, York, Malton and the East Coast resorts. Beverely has a regular programme of events such as a folk festival and car boot sales held on the racecourse. It has many fine buildings also.

Another thing I like about it is that it seems to start the recording at the exact right moment, even if the program starts a bit late. It's great not having to put tapes in and this thing has an enormous capacity. Another ...
Advantages: Historic market town, oozing with charm, lots of shops for the shoppers and history for the historians Disadvantages: None that I can think of

John?s most notable act was the cure of a deaf and dumb boy in Hexham, for this he was made Patron Saint of the Deaf and Dumb; this is portrayed in the window in the north choir aisle of the Minster above the Chapter House steps.
Born at Harpham, near Driffield John was educated at Canterbury, became Bishop of Hexham in AD 687 and Bishop of York in AD 705 before retiring to Beverley before his death in AD 721.
In AD 692 John discovered a small church in the woods of Beverley, which he rebuilt and converted into a monastery. This was the first Saxon church in Beverley.
In 866 the Danes razed the Beverley Monastery, or Minster as it was known, to the ground; records were burnt and its tenants either killed, wounded or driven away ...
