I bought Beyonce's debut album dangerously in love and i was pleasantly surprised. I liked all her singles that she released and a few extra songs such as Dangerously in love, that's how you like it and speechless. Her first album was a lyrical masterpiece and quite a few of the songs were slow numbers. However Beyonce is back and there is hardly any slow songs in sight. She says the album was done in two weeks and it was inspired by her character Deena from her upcoming film 'Dreamgirls'. She made the records as statements that she wish Deena would have done in her life. So lets review the cd:
1) Deja Vu(feat JayZ) - A good first single. It is a commercial song with a great beat and can easily get stuck in your head for a good few days. It's a nice summer R'n'B song with slight undertones of Crazy in Love. 2) Get Me Bodied - A real hard beat driven sexy song. It sounds like a song you'd find in an underground hip hop club. She really transforms from Pop to Hip Hop/R'n'B. I really like this song but some may find it to urban. 3)
Suga Mama - This is like a old funk jazzy song. I still haven't decided whether i like it or not. I usually skip this song but it does bring something different to the album. It doesn't sound like all the R'n'B songs out at the moment. For some reason it takes me back to a 1920's funk house, which is good if this is what she intended. 4) Upgrade U - One of my favourite songs on the album. I think all the collaborations she's done with Jay are so hip and street. It's a really good song with hard crunk beats that can be played so loud in your car with your windows down. 5) Ring the Alarm - The first time i heard this song, i thought what the heck!?! But oh how it has grown on me. I really love this song and i think it's great she's tried something different. The song is just full of anger and you can tell by the way she sings it. A really good break up song without being all soppy. Yet again a good song for a single. 6) Kitty Kat - A slow, relaxing song which you can listen to whilst you chill in your room. Like the name and i like the way you can keep this song on repeat and it doesn't start to annoy you. Her voice sounds soothing on this song and i'm glad this came after such a hard, angry song like Ring the alarm. 7) Freakum Dress - Now this song is such a club banger. PUT UR FREAKUM DRESS ON. It has such an amazing beat and makes you feel like crunking. I can't wait to hear this live on her tour because it is just so empowering. This may not suit everyone's tastes as it is quite loud and in your face but i love it. 8) Green Light - Another favourite of mine. I'm so glad she did a song with the Neptunes. The tune to this song is so old school R'n'B and the chorus is so catchy. Really like this song and i hope she releases it as a single. 9) Irreplaceable - Supposed third single, and i'm so glad. I absolutely love this song. Great slow jam, great lyrics and a really good break up song without being to depressing. Her voice sounds so emotional on this track and i just love it. I play this the most on the album. 10) Resentment - A really raw song and it feels like Beyonce is in the room singing to you. Not many effects used on this track and it's just got a simple instrument playing in the background. For all those who doubt B then this song reassures you she can sing so good. 11) Check On It - We all know this song. It's hip hop, it's catchy and it was for her film 'The Pink Panther'. Not one of my favourite songs as i feel like it's just another average R'n'B song. 12) Listen - oh my gosh. What a song. This is so amazing, the way she uses her vocals to the up most best. She sounds absolutely outstanding. This song is sure a grammy winner. She sounds like a true diva. Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross & Whitney eat your heart out. 13) Get Me Bodied (extended remix) - Just an extended mix of get me bodied. Exactly the same, but with another verse and chorus. Great for if your playing it at a party and it goes on for about 6 minutes.
Overall i really like this album. In my opinion this album has less fillers than Dangerously in love. I can happily sit and listen through this whole album without feeling the need to skip a song. There's only a few tracks i'm not that keen on but i still listen to them because i know eventually they will grow on me. The inside booklet of the album dissappointed me a bit because they didn't include the lyrics and a few of the pictures are used twice throughout the booklet. This album is a great club banger and something new from beyonce. If you prefer songs such as Me, Myself & I and Dangerously in love then you won't like this up tempo, hard beat number. Love your stuff Beyonce and i can't wait to hear these songs like on your 2007 world tour.

I do like the sound of this. Last month I got my hands of Dangerously In Love and loved it. I'm sure this is on my Amazon Wishlist but I'm going to have to double check now!
