Break from the Norm?
Review of Palookaville (Parental Advisory) [PA] - Fatboy Slim by Galoo

Advantages: Guest appearances bonanza!!!
Disadvantages: You'll wish it doesn't end!

...After 4 years without a new album and a couple of mind-blowing DJ sets on the beach, Fatboy Slim returns with "Palookaville" in 2004. No need to introduce the man himself... Mr Norman Cook has a portfolio longer than Inspector Gadget's arms: former Housemartins and Dub International band member, House/Big Beat legend under various nicknames (Mighty Dub Katz, Fatboy Slim etc...) and famous remixer who helped Cornershop shoot to fame with "Brimful of Asha". "Palookaville" isn't the expected Dance album a lot of fans awaited. It is certainly Fatboy Slim's most personal and autobiographical one to date. It's a very nice mixture of Rock, Pop and Electronic music. The opening track "Don't let the man..." is probably the closest song you'll get to "vintage" Fatboy Slim. It is quite similar to "Praise you". "Slash Dot Dash... Read review

Definitely The Best
Review of Best Of Peter Kay, The (...So Far/Parental Advisory) [PA] - Various Artists by Davidhutt

Advantages: A great album, lots of songs, all funny, moneys worth
Disadvantages: Can be boring if listened to lots.

...What an album. Not only is Peter a fantastic comedian but he's also a great singer. All the songs are taken from the series of 'Phoenix Nights' and 'Max & Paddy'. His singing is very often cabaret but this is intentional. He has not done this to make a career in the singing industry. It’s sung to be funny and this is the only aim. There are some great classics on here. The always recognizable 'Way To Amarillo' features. A song that has become a legend for everyone in the UK. Over greats like 'African Tears' and 'Black Bin Bags' are sure to get anyone rolling on the floor. There are 34 songs on this album so you get your money worth and if you're a fan of Big Pete then you'll love it... Read review

99 Reasons to Love The 80's
Review of Original 80s Number 1s Album, The (18 Number One Hits From Across The Decade) - Various Artists by supercityfan

Advantages: 18 Wonderful Number one Tracks from the 80's
Disadvantages: None

...- 19 A particularly controversial track at the time as it dealt with the complications associated with the Vietnam War, with 19 being the average age of soldiers involved in the conflict. It certainly delivered an important message in a particularly poignant way. 12. Soul II Soul (feat Caron Wheeler) - Back To Life I was never a big Soul II Soul fan, although this is one of those tracks which just grows and grows on you. 13. Boy George - Everything I Own Despite his undoubted talent, for some reason (probably drugs as much as anything else) Boy George's solo career never really took off. That said though, this is a fairly decent cover version, although it is not one of my personal favourites on the album. 14. Kajagoogoo - Too Shy Another band who burst on the scene with this rendition, although they are probably remembered more... Read review
