...this album is a must have far anyone who describes themselves as being in to hip hop, indi rock and dance music. the remix team at DFA is headed up by the companys founders, James Murphy (aka LCD soundsystem) and ex-UNKLE member TIm Goldsworthy and together they crate wity, infectiously dancable and memrobale reworking of clasic songs from every genre, bringing there NY electro flavor to each one. not only is this a good album but also a good introduction to the DFA as a lable. based in NY the DFA (death from above records, referd to as the DFA after a legal dispute with Death From Above 1979) are an elctronia and indi orientated lable who are at the cuting edge of musical cool. there roster includes bands like Hot Chip, LCD soundsystem, Black Dice, Nine inche nails, and many more. check it out... Advantages: Contains classic artists such as Odyssey, Brothers Johnson and Diana Ross
Disadvantages: Is a populist take on the disco era.

...This album is a broad yet typical retrospective of the commercial side of the disco era. Staples of the disco scene such as Chic and Earth, Wind & Fire feature here, yet in their most famous incarnations as opposed to the music that changed the face of the dance underground forever. There are rare stand out moments such as the highlighted Brothers Johnson classic 'Stomp' and Diana Ross's Chic penned athem 'Upside Down' however, overall this album is a good album for those that think of disco as a Car Wash style flares and afro 'Good Times' party. It's not for the connoisseurs of disco for whom any one of the Larry Levan or Joey Negro compilations would be better suited.... Read review

Advantages: Good tracks, bonus material
Disadvantages: A few too many mixes

...Have already rated the previous album (put your hands up vol.1) and many of my points apply to this album aswell. After continually listening to the first album i decided to buy this one aswell and again i was not disappointed. There is again a brilliant mix of tracks over 3 CD's including several remixes and club mixes such as that of Camille Jonesvs Fedded le Grande-The Creeps (club mix). This i believe to be one of the best but there are 62 other tunes that you will just want to get up and dance to. Again, as like the previous album there is bonus content on CD1 including 3 awesomw music videos including Fedde Le Grande-Put your hands up and Alex Gaudino-Destination Calabria. This is a really nice touch to the album and makes it a real gem.... Read review
