Reasons For Purchasing “Big Ones” By Aerosmith. Well if you do not have a copy of Aerosmiths "Big Ones" and you are a fan of the group or some of their songs, then I certainly would urge you to check this fantastic, well put together, music CD out, as it is excellent! The "Big Ones" album, by Aerosmith is one of the groups many “Greatest hits” albums they have released over the years.
Aerosmith are a rock band (for those who have never heard of them) and are considered America's greatest rock group ever. They started out together in1971 and to date have released over fifteen albums and also, a few greatest hits albums including "Big Ones" Well this album personally is one of my favourites, because it includes sixteen of their biggest hits and ones I particularly love, all on one handy CD. "Big Ones" was released in November 1994 and reached number six in the Billboard charts. The tracks on this album feature all ’’’Aerosmiths’’’ hits from their platinum award albums.
I purchased "Big ones" by Aerosmith over twelve years ago, as I really love Aerosmith and their very unusual, style of music. I have quite a collection of CDs by this very talented group, but not them all, and I bought the "Big ones" CD, because it has all my favourite tracks, I love listening to, all included on one handy disc.
All sixteen tracks on this “Big Ones CD, are a great mixture of the groups best, most well known songs they have produced and most of the tunes are great rock songs, with excellent lyrics, fantastic rock music and all telling their own unique little story. Two of the tracks on this album where newly released ones, so this adds as a little bonus to fans or listeners to great rock music. I love listening to the "Big Ones " CD quite a lot and I feel it is a great album for lifting my mood, when I am slightly down or feeling sad, because most of the songs have fast, moving lyrics to them and have excellent, feel good tunes, that really make me feel on top of the world again. The tracks on this album will really have you singing and dancing along to them and being an Aerosmith fan also, will have you strumming along on your pretend guitar.
The Five Members Of Aerosmith Are:
Steven Tyler who beautifully sings vocals and plays the harmonica.
Joey Kramer who plays the drums.
Joe Perry who plays the guitar.
Brad Whitford who also plays the guitar.
Tom Hamilton who plays bass guitar.
All of these five members make up Aerosmith and of course they contribute to the making of this "Big Ones" album. They are all very talented musicians, song writers and of course singers and all of them play their own little part in the formation of this great band.
The Front Cover Of The "Big Ones" CD. Some people think it is not really important to include front, back covers and inlays when reviewing Music CDs, but I personally do, as I think they do catch your eye when buying, are important to fans to see the latest pictures of their favourite stars and an inlay and back cover are useful for track listings etc. Well I include them in my reviews, as I know they are important to me. Ciao does ask about the cover, inlay and design also.
The front cover of the "Big Ones" CD is actually very nice. The background picture is a continuous, electric blue, psychedelic spirals, that are set unto a black ground, that make your eyes sort of dazzle because the effect that they give, looks as if they are moving around. At the very top of the front cover, in the centre, is Aerosmiths famous emblem, of their circled angel wings, holding the groups Aerosmith name. This is coloured in bright red and really stands out and looks very well indeed! Three quarters of the front cover is taken up by the words "Big Ones" which are somewhat squiggled on with white careless lettering and this really stands out the most on the front cover. Overall it's a nice front cover to an album. Nothing too fancy, but it certainly looks great, all the colours, coordinate well and it's very easy to see that this CD is by Aerosmith.
The Back Cover To The "Big Ones" CD. The back cover to Aerosmiths "Big Ones" album features two sumo wrestlers, hunched down and ready to wrestle each other. This looks a very different choice to me on a music album, but it still is a nice photograph, that stands out well and I guess the name “Big Ones“ has something to do with this choice of photograph. To the right hand side of the back cover, from top to bottom is, all sixteen tracks, nicely listed and spaced out, in bold red lettering. On the top left hand corner, again is Aerosmiths winged name emblem, which is also coloured in red and looks really, very nice indeed and stands out well.. All off the producers and Geffen Records, are neatly printed in blue ink, near the bottom of the back cover. Overall this is a very unusual picture chosen for an album, but

it looks very well, is very easy to read and see all the tracks that are listed on it. The Inlay to the "Big Ones'' CD. The inlay to Aerosmiths "Big Ones" CD is a lovely black and white photograph off all five band members, who are all posing in front of a window and all looking very handsome, but some what serious. It really is a lovely photograph of Aerosmith indeed! Underneath the groups photograph is another psychedelic spiral, but this time. It is coloured blue and red and printed on top, in white is of course, Aerosmiths beautiful winged, named emblem.
The inlay opens out into a little booklet and on one side, it has a lovely, yellow, gray and red swirled road printed onto it's background. All sixteen tracks are clearly printed on top of it, in black lettering and also the times are stated of how long each track lasts for. All of the producers and everyone involved with the album are clearly printed in this little booklet also. A special thanks to "Greenpeace From Us And Our Planet" is written on the bottom of the inlay and is a nice gesture in my opinion. On the next page of the inlay booklet, there is three pictures of the "Pump" album cover. The Permanent vacation album cover and also the "Get A Grip" album cover all nicely displayed around the names of those involved with those albums.
This very useful inlay booklet also opens right up and it displays all the lyrics to every song on the "Big Ones" album, which is very useful, if you do not know all the words, to your favourite tracks. These are all printed in small gray lettering, but you can make the lyrics out quite well. Overall an excellent inlay to this CD, with included song lyrics, which is nicely designed and very easy to read.
The CD To The "Big Ones" album. All sixteen tracks from the album are all fitted on to one CD, which actually surprises me a lot, as most are spilt onto two discs, whenever twelve songs are featured on an album. Well this is a nice CD and it even has a photograph of one of the bands members faces (Joey Kramer) stencilled in electric blue onto the disc and it looks really nice, against the shinny silver background. Also printed in electric blue is the "Big Ones" name and of course Aerosmiths winged, named, emblem and to me it's a nice finish to a CD that is easy to recognise when I am looking for it.

Below is a little bit of information about all of the sixteen great tracks on this album, what they mean to me personally and also a little information about each one of the tracks lyrics, what they mean and it’s great background sounds.. They all really are a great mix of carefully selected "Greatest Hits" by Aerosmith and I am sure there is one or two of them that most people will actually know and have heard somewhere before, included on this album. A little Bit About Each Of The Sixteen Tracks: Walk On Water. What an excellent song. This is an all time favourite of mine and it certainly is worth listening to and worthy to be on a “Greatest Hits” album. This track starts of with a bass guitar leading the way and then it is joined by lots of strong drum beats and of course it features the famous harmonica, being played beautifully by Steven Tyler. It's a very fast moving track and Steven Tyler sings a story of being in love with a girl and wanting to Walk on water with her. It's a great song and will have you singing along quickly to this great tune, because of it's very catchy lyrics. Overall an excellent track that’s been chosen for this greatest hits album.
Love in an elevator. Well I think most people will have heard of this song before and to me, this song really is one of Aerosmiths best ever songs. I really love the introduction to this track and the loud drum and guitar sounds. The start of this song has Steven Tyler screaming the opening lyrics and it can actually make you jump, if you have never heard this before, because it‘s really unexpected. It's an excellent song about being trapped in an elevator and getting it on with someone, after being seduced by them. It has really excellent guitar sounds throughout this whole song and is a brilliant track overall, by the famous Aerosmith. It really is a fast moving song, with loud beats and vocals from the group. The end of this song has a lovely blend of all the groups voices, singing in perfect harmony together "Going Down". I love It! This song was released from the pump album, into the Billboard charts and reached the position of number five.
Rag Doll. This is another great little track indeed that I love listening to. It starts of with great guitar and drum sounds, it is then joined by Steven Tyler singing about himself, being a Bad Boy and his voice sings in the same rhythm as the background sounds, made by the sax, guitars and drums. It is a very catchy track that is quite a famous tune, in my opinion and to me it should of reached higher in the billboard charts than of it’s number 17 position and it also, only made number 42 in the UK charts. This song really will have you singing and dancing along to it, because it is so catchy and a great, well put together rock song overall.
What it Takes. This has a lovely instrumental start to this song with great guitar and softer drum sounds. It really is a lovely song, which is quite a softer and calmer rock song, in my opinion. It starts of with Steven Tyler singing of himself, being in love with a possessive girl, that turns him into a prisoner and he sings "what it takes to let you go" because he has, had enough. This really is a brilliant song with very meaningful lyrics, that tell a lovely story. It has great vocals also by Steven Tyler and this really is a very catchy song indeed and is very hard to dislike this song because of it‘s great rhythm . This song is just excellent and I am glad this track was included on this “Greatest hits” CD by Aerosmith
Dude (looks like a lady) This is a very popular song by Aerosmith and it has been used in many Movies and advertisements over the years, because of it's excellent, catchy and witty lyrics. This song starts of will workmen using numatic drills and whistling to a bloke, who looks like a lady, hence the title (Dude looks like a lady). This is an excellent tune with fantastic background music from many different instruments like, guitars, sax, drums and others, that all mix really well, to create this perfect tune. Steven Tyler really sings this very well and it's another classic by Aerosmith that I am pleased they have included on the "Big Ones" album. This song really will have you bopping and singing along to it and it's one of those tracks, that you never grow tired of listening to either. Overall an excellent track!
Janie’s got a gun I really love this song by Aerosmith It has a strange echoed start to it, with sort of strange, unusual sounds going on in the background, but it really grows on you quickly. It starts to quicken up in beat and Steven Tyler sings a story about Janie’s got a gun, because she has an abusive partner and no one believes her when she seeks help from him. As a last resort, she buys a gun and shoots him in the head and then runs away from the law. This really is a brilliant song that tells this story very well and Steven Tyler sings this incredibly. It has a beautiful softer rock tune to the background, that gets louder when the chorus is sang. An excellent song by Aerosmith that I personally love.
Cryin This is my favourite song by Aerosmith ever. There is just something about this tune and the background music that I really love hearing. It starts of with excellent guitar sounds, softly playing, that gradually get louder and faster near the chorus. Steven Tyler tells a beautiful story in this song, of a couple who had once been in love, their relationship breakdown and them trying to move on without each other, but love really causes misery in their lives. There is lots of great guitar sounds in this song, that really do pick up heavier, as the song goes on. Near the end of this track, Steven Tyler plays his famous harmonica in a lovely solo by himself, that really sounds beautiful in my opinion. This really is my favourite Aerosmith song that I love singing along to and it certainly could not of been left out of this “Greatest hits” album, by the band. This song was also released into the Billboard charts in 1993 and reached number 12 and also reached number 17 in the UK charts that same year.
Amazing. What a track and I am glad it has been included on the "Big Ones" album because I love the beautiful introduction to this song, that is a lovely, soft rock tune with a mix of guitars and drums. The tune really is nice to this track. Steven Tyler soon sings a lovely story, about his problems and hardship in his life and actually wanting it all to end, but he soon realises that life is worth living, so he sings this song to others who are feeling down in their lives, as he has been through it also. It really is a lovely story to a song, with excellent background sounds, from a beautiful grand piano and solo guitars, that create this beautiful melody, to this fantastic song. This song was also released into the charts and reached number 24 in the Billboard one. Its a beautiful song by Aerosmith that really has to be listened to, to be felt.
Blind Man. This is another excellent song from the "Big Ones" CD. It starts of with lovely gentle guitar sounds and Stephen Tyler singing softly, a story about his life and his problems with drugs and being down. He sings about finding a friend who helps him out of his past life and who helps him on to the right path again. This song was never released by Aerosmith but was added to this album and it really is a lovely song and a little added bonus, for fans in my opinion.
Deuces Are Wild. This is a great song from Aerosmith that I personally love. It starts of with slow guitar sounds being played gently and soon quickens up, to be joined by Steven Tyler blasting out the chorus. It tells a story of being in love with a girl, that sends your Deuces wild, but tells also of being on drugs and being stoned and that he was never around for his love, when he should of been. This song has a nice tune to it overall and like all of Aerosmiths songs. It is another great one.
The Other Side. The Other Side (from the Pump album) is a great song that has a really nice, catchy tune to it. It has plenty of great orchestral sounds in this track and a beautiful piano solo, right in the middle of this song also. Steven Tyler sings a story in this beautiful song, about being in love with a girl and not really wanting to settle down in his life, at that particular moment in time, so he dumps the poor girl, as it is not the relationship he is after. It is another catchy little tune that will have you singing and dancing along very quickly to it, when you hear it being played.
Crazy. This is another top track by Aerosmith that I personally love because of it's great lyrics and very unique tune. This song tells a beautiful story of a mans love and being Crazy in love with a beautiful girl. This song has an excellent video to it also and was released into the charts and peaked at number 15. The background music has a soft, slow moving, rock theme to it, with excellent guitar solos and drum sounds, that really create this excellent Aerosmith song overall, that I am sure a lot of people are very familiar with. This song is truly amazing in every way and certainly is one of Aerosmiths greatest hits ever.
Eat the Rich Well this song starts of with some crazy sounds to it, that I wont even start to explain. It is a very fast beat moving tune, with lots of loud drum and guitar sounds, at many different intervals. It has very strong bass through it also. This track tells a story of waking up on the wrong side of the bed and realising that there really is much more to life, than worrying about money and living a rich life of luxury. This really is a very catchy song, that always has me singing along to it, but be warned. There is some bad language at the end of this track, but it makes it fun to sing this in my opinion.
Angel . This is a lovely Aerosmith song that starts of with fantastic guitar music, before being beautifully sang, by Steven Tyler. He sings a really lovely story of his love, who has passed on. It really is very beautiful indeed and I love listening to this track over and over again. It is quite a sad song, but the lyrics are just amazing. The tune is a true eighties rock tune, with beautiful background music. The chorus is just fantastic also. Tyler sings 'You're my angel, come and save me tonight. You're my angel, come and make it all right' and it really is one of Aerosmiths all time greats, that deserves a place on this greatest hits album. This song also reached number three in the billboard charts.
Livin On The Edge. Livin on the Edge starts of with a loud sort of banjo sound, but played on a guitar. It is a slower song at the start, that soon quickens up and Steven Tyler soon shouts out his story of living on the edge, because of the state of the world he is living in today. This great track, has lots of loud drum beats throughout this song, that make you want to stamp your feet on the floor with the very catchy rhythm of it. It is a very catchy tune indeed, but not one of my personal favourites, but still a great song with good lyrics to it.
Dude (Looks Like A Lady) This song is a longer version, than track number five and I love this song a lot and I never have got fed up listening to this great song at all. As I stated in Track number five, this song is all about a Dude that looks ‘quite like a lady‘. It really is one of Aerosmiths, most recognised songs and it certainly deserves to be included on the "Big Ones" album. It is one of my favourite tracks by Aerosmith and I really love playing this, when friends call around, because it really livens up any atmosphere.
My Overall Opinion Of The "Big Ones" Album. Well I have to say this is certainly one of the most handiest Aerosmith albums I own, because it has sixteen of the bands greatest songs ever, all on one handy CD. This truly is an excellent "Greatest Hits" album by Aerosmith and all sixteen of these tracks, are all the best songs (well nearly) that the band has ever produced. Any fan of the band would certainly be delighted with this great compilation of music that’s been carefully selected and I certainly am very pleased with the selection, as it only leaves out one of my favourite tracks by Aerosmith, but you cannot win them all.
Well this is a great album that I am very proud to have in my CD collection and I listen to it a lot, usually along with my husband, who is also a big fan of this awesome rock band. It is a great album to put into the CD player when guests come around, as you will find everyone will know and have their own favourite song by Aerosmith, and it soon gets everyone’s spirits lifted with it’s catchy tunes. I really am pleased I purchased this CD because it saves pulling out a lot of '''Aerosmiths'' albums, as you can really listen to most of their hits from this one CD. All of the songs on this album are very well written and have excellent lyrics to them all, that all tell little unique stories of their own and will have you singing to their catchy chorus’s in no time. The guitar, drum and piano sounds etc are all perfectly played by the artists involved and they really have all been carefully put together, to create the great background sounds, to each and everyone one of these unique and awesome tracks.
I really would highly recommend the "Big Ones" CD to everyone, as it has nearly all '''Aerosmiths''' Greatest Hits included on it, which makes it the perfect CD to pull out and play, when you want to hear this amazing group. Everything about the "Big Ones" CD is just perfect. The cover and inlay looks great, the included lyrics are handy to read, ‘when needed’ and the mix of chosen tracks is really outstanding. It is one of my favourite CDs ever by the band and I really would urge all fans or anyone who likes any songs by ''' Aerosmith''' to add this album to their collections. It really will not let you down at all. This album gets a big thumbs up from me and certainly always will. It truly is outstanding! Full marks from me!
