Big Ones - Judge Dread

Disadvantages: Some tunes are missing, but then you cant fit them all on 2 cds can you

...I cant praise this album enough. Normally when buying compilation albums i find i already have most of the tunes on them, or at least heard of most of them. However, with this one i hadnt heard of at least 50% of the tunes. But as it is supposed to be a compilation for those ibiza people just coming back to remind them of their time, then i assume those people will have heard these tracks. That aside it is an excellent compilation. Judge Jules and Tall Paul have put together 2 very good mixes, what makes it seem better is that they recorded them while in Ibiza which must be hard fitting it in to their busy schedules out there. The choice of songs is appropriate and gives that summer feel to it and all of the big tunes of the summer are here, artists like Spiller, Darude, Hi Gate, Planet Perfecto and Sonique are all present, it gives me... ...The Ibiza Annual Summer 2000 is a good representation of all the big club hits from the Summer that were heavily played in Ibiza. Mixed up by the Ministry's regular compilation mixers Boy George and Tall Paul there are 44 tracks here so plenty for all the family! The first cd opens badly with Sonique - Feels So Good - not a bad track in its own right but completely impossible to mix into anything else as Judge Jules amply proves. After a weak start, the cd comes into its own around track 9 when the unmistakable sound of CRW cuts in on Gee Moore's track Gimme More - a classic. There are big commercial crossovers here - Zombie Nation and Bullet In The Gun but the cd trances out in excellent fashion with Angelic and Kayestone. Very disappointed with the mix of Sunday Shoutin selected for the cd - dross. CD Two opens in a more funky fashion... Read review

...do I hear the crowd cry - 'oh no not another Ibiza club mix cd' - well I am afraid to say yes - but take it this tie this one is a really good buy. It includes all the big tunes from that sunny island - Ibiza . I personally recommend this one fro all thoese who either didn't get the chance to enjoy the atmosphere personally and also for all those luck folk who enjoyed the madness out there. This is a great cd to play while you are getting ready for a nite out - really funky and up lifting... Read review
