.... They called it a day after their last album The Big Sell-Out in 1992 and Magnuson went on to produce a unique cabaret style solo album called The Luv Show. Bongwater are often described as experimental, psychedelic or avant garde. Their sound is difficult to define as they will take ideas from any genre and give them the Bongwater touch. There are elements of almost any kind of music you can think of here, mashed and melded into a disorientating style. Their lyrics are often surreal, the music can be thickly produced, but they still seem to produce a 'message.' although I'm not sure what it is, maybe I've been brainwashed. There are many layers here, in both the music and the lyrics. If you only really like straightforward pop then you won't like this. Advantages: one really good band
Disadvantages: songs can get boring

...tracks leap out. "Devilution" is a perfect example of that Motorhead influence, as it speeds along at a blinding pace, one of the best exercises in old-school metal performed by a young band in ages. More faithful to the classic stoner sound, "Anointing of Seer" is loaded with bongwater-rippling, string-bending riffs and a more lumbering pace, while the superb "Blessed Black Wings" goes headlong into that South of Heaven-era Slayer direction, Pike's voice taking on a beastly roar. It's the fast songs, though, that keep things from getting to redundant, as "Silver Back", and especially the brilliant "Cometh Down Hessian" prove. so basically all the songs are great but everyone except the face of oblivion get boring but still high on fire are a great band... ...all saints from the very first day i heard their music i knew they were going to be big, it turned out i was right. they are big. they have made music for films, had the biggest selling of the year 2000 and have 2 platinum albums. they are always kept in the papers due to the costant upsets of the group whether it is for members leaving or the members being pregnant. but there soulful sounds make it all worth it.this is a must have album so go out and buy it. bernie....
