Big Shake Up - Dave O'Higgins Biggish Band

... more
who has spent well over a decade as a highly visible presence on the British jazz scene, so we can hardly call him a newcomer. Yet his music always has a freshness and energy most normally associated with youth. On this record, which came about when the band was assembled for an East Midlands Arts-sponsored community project in Lincoln, O'Higgins has written all compositions and arrangements. They are clean-edged and uncomplicated without being simplistic. O'Higgins leaves plenty of space for blowing, but where there are written passages, they are more than merely something to connect the solos together, with nice voicings and instrumental colouring. The style of the music is not a million years from Loose Tubes on a breezy day, or Gary McFarland at his jazziest, and should be very attractive to both jazz and non-jazz fans. All in all it's a very pleasing record. --Keith Shadwick

Review of Conspiracy Of One - Offspring (The) by
bbrown116
Advantages: Excellent music!
Disadvantages: None
...fan-base.
Music Style:
Chaotic vaguely-punk rock based around clever themes. The style of the album will appeal to most music-fans and has a wide fan-base. Personally, I find the music a suitable background liveliness for most things (relaxing, working, washing up...), although I guess I'm a particularly big fan. I don't think I know anyone who didn't enjoy the CD (including my Grandparents!), although the occasionally explicit nature of the lyrics means it probably isn't suitable for younger children.
The 'Conspiracy of One' CD is ideal for any moment when you need a lift; whether you're feeling a little down or need an energy boost, the up-beat rhythms and predominantly cheerful lyrics is a quick fix that will get you through the rest of the day.
Music/performance quality:
The quality of the band's performance is inevitably high...

Brilliant !!!
Review of Crash - Dave Matthews Band by
dmnuk
Advantages: Best Live Band Ever
Disadvantages: Will never Leave Your Player
...Dave Matthews Band, is truly one of the best bands around today, there powerful Lyrics, there mellow vibe, there long Jam's, there brilliant live concerts (seen 3 of them). From 1991 when they started to this present day, they have not disappointed, from touring day in and day out, without any big advertising or marketing campaign, theses guys have built up a fan base from solid touring and excellent album's. Every song they sing has such meaningful words, they play such different instruments, concerts have lasted up to 3 and a half hrs, they just get on stage and to there thing, (voted Best Live Band 2nd year running)
To sum it up, have a listen and judge for yourself, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed....

Sabastian Bach the Canadian rocker nicknamed The Wolfman for his Wolf like growls, has a varied but excellent voice. When he can go from a wolfman growl to a sustained high pitch and hold the note without straining his vocal cords.
Dave 'Snake' Sabo Played some excellent riffs on this great debut album.
Songs that made them well known are 18 And Life, Youth Gone Wild and I Remember You.
