Ok, this cd is flawless. And it just proves that they are a prodigy band considering that fact it is their debut album. Finally giving canadian alternative bands a good name. Billy Talent has in now way a sound of any other band.

Song listings and why I like them;
This Is How It Goes (3:27) What a perfect way to start off the cd. Listening to Billy Talent for the first time, this is the song that got me hooked. If you want a loud song to play in your car, to intensionally tick off the entire nieghbourhood, this is the song for you. Starting off with a solid guitar riff, then in comes the symbols from the drums, and the base line. This song is well done.
Living In The Shadows (3:15) Keeping with the pace from the first song, this high energy song has a great intro distorted guitar riff. The catchy chorus will get you easily hooked on this song.
Try Honesty (4:13) There first single, and the reason for it is that this song is the perfect combination of instrumental and vocal. One of their harder songs, the chorus makes you want to scream with them. I think I like this song because I play it in my garage and have received complaints from the nieghbours.
Line & Sinker (3:37) Intense starting on this song, when the verses come in the song slows down, but is still a strong built song. Didn't enjoy this song as much as the other fast pace songs.
Lies (2:58) This short song is extremely strong in lyrical content. The guitar riff is catchy, and for all of you guitar players out there, very easy to play. This song has much relevence for me, saying everything that I want to say about lies. Favourite line "Lies will come back to hunt you"
The Ex (2:40) Clearly stating what the subject matter of this song is, in the title. Great is you have just recently broke up with a partner and need a way to scream about it.
River Below (3:00) This song will have you nodding your head to the pace. Well put together and amazing vocal positioning. The song has a strong lyrical content, referencing a blue collar working man, causing great disaster.
Standing In The Rain (3:20) Not my favourite song on the album, but it has it's purpose. Referencing the social issue of a runaway living on the streets.
Cut The Curtain (3:50) We like to call this song a filler, being put on the cd to separate the tempo of songs, to show versatility. Not as high energy as the rest of the album, but still is a good song.
Prisoners of Today (3:53) Why should we have to conform into what society has accepted as normal. Break out of the schedule, don't be a prisoner. Well that's the impression I received.
Nothing To Lose (3:38) Addressing the social issue of suicide. This song is well done and a revolutionary in the class of suicide songs. Giving off the impression of feeling by making the chorus more intense than the rest of the song. The listener can feel empathy for the victim.
Voices Of Violence (3:10) Great way to close this album. After listening to this song you can feel closure, as if the album is done and would be better to listen to it again sometime. Great closure again.
Billy Talent, is the best canadian band of it's class. I would highly recommend this album to anyone who enjoys the follwoing bands: Three Days Grace, Lost Prophets, Incubus, 12 Stones, Korn, Slipknot, AlexisonFire,
By listening to this album you will not be under the impression that it is their first. It is so well put together that there isn't a song on it that I don't like. Great band for anyone who wants to listen to songs that are loud and they would be able to cover in a garage band
Advantages: A great edgey album, more refreshing than most modern music! Disadvantages: Benjamin Kowalewicz voice can be annoying (But I LOVE it!)
...The band became Billy Talent in 2001 after overcoming legal trouble (inspired by Micheal Turners novel)
After releasing their 4 song EP in 2001 'Try Honesty' the band began to attract media attention and finally signed with Atlantic Records and Warner Music Canada. In 2003 the band released 'Billy Talent' their self titled album. 'Billy Talent' - Discography - 1 - This Is How It Goes
2 - Living In The Shadows 3 - Try Honesty
4 - Line & Sinker ... ...River Below
8 - Standing In The Rain 9 - Cut The Curtains
10 - Prisoners of Today
11 - Nothing To Lose
12 - Voices of Violence I fell in love with this album the first time i heard it, almost every song is single worthy! I didn't expect to enjoy this at all, but after being persuaded to listen to it thoroughly enjoyed it. Although some people find Ben Kowalewicz's (lead singer) voice annoying, I find it gives the music that edge that so many ...

Advantages: High tempo, exciting music Disadvantages: Some songs irritating
Billy Talent are a 4-piece Canadian, pop-punk band. The music they play is fast and energetic and this is their self-titled debut album. Bands who they are most like would include bands such as The Hives, especially material from their new album "Tyrranasaurus Hives", so if your fed up with Howlin' Pelle Almquist, this could be a good alternative.
The album opens with "This is how it goes" and is one of the best tracks on the album and sets the ... ...is one of the best.
Billy Talent's best songs tend to some when they play faster songs, with more energy. Their slower songs tend to bring out the singer's annoying accent and this drags the songs down. The singer has a very good screaming voice and this is used well in combination with backing vocals from the guitarist and bassist. Overall a very good debut album, and also a very good live band. ...

Advantages: This album blows all other bands out of your butt. Disadvantages: Once you start, you can't stop. Withdrawal symptoms apply.
This album is - in my opinion - the greatest punk album ever made. I bought this album around three months ago and now I listen to it all the way through at least once a day on the bus (most days once on the way to college, and once on the way home - sometimes more).
You might think I'm an obsessive fanatic. But buy the album for yourself and you will realise just how right I am.
Every song on this album is addictive, energetic and will leave you ...

Advantages: Fresh sound from other emo/punk bands Disadvantages: "Lies" can be particularly annoying
...on their own, you'd expect Billy Talent to be your average emo/screamo band. His high-pitched screams fill the album with his heartfelt lyrics. But vocals are nothing without a good backing, and that's what Billy Talent excel in also. Ian D'Sa has gone against the average power chord structured riffs that are seen in most pop-punk at the moment and has used his own experience from when Billy Talent were more funky and known as "Pezz". With this he ... ...they become a bit similar.
Stand Out Tracks- This Is How It Goes, Try Honesty, Line & Sinker, RIver Below, Nothing To Lose
The only real weak song is Lies, which I personally don't like. It's the rythm of it which puts me off, however many fans love it. ...

Advantages: A sensational second major label release from the brilliant Billy Talent. Disadvantages: 47 minutes of music just isn't enough.
BillyTalent is a successful Canadian rock band that formed in Mississauga, Ontario back in 1993. In Canada the bands 'BillyTalent' album is classified triple platinum whilst this 'BillyTalent II' album double platinum. Both albums from the band have been excellent, I personally am a huge fan of each of these releases and for a long time now have been following the progression of this fantastic Canadian band. The music is hard hitting and always it is hugely impressive as BillyTalent here blast their way through this exciting 'BillyTalent II' album.
It all begins with 'Devil in a Midnight Mass', a fiery track of epic proportions and one that I feel starts the album sensationally. Not once does the music on this album disappoint, from start to finish never is the music of BillyTalent anything short of sensational. Tracks such as ...
Advantages: Better than the 1st? Must own album. Disadvantages: We want more!
The 2nd outing from the Canadian Rock/Punk outfit BillyTalent, creatively titled BillyTalent II.
Over last few years they've gained quite a following after the release of 'BillyTalent' their debut album. And not without reason, 'BillyTalent' was really like a slap in the face, and was a amazing album, whereas 'BillyTalent II" is like a kick in the balls, but gives you some sympathy afterwards.
Opening track 'Devil in a Midnight Mass' is a out and out BillyTalent song, with an underlying riff that will stick in your head for days, the track abruptly ends and takes you into 'Red Flag', a stomping song and one of the album highlights.
Song after song, the production and quality is exceptional, the drums are clear and hard hit, Ian D'Sa's guitar playing is still as hot as the 1st album, you wouldn't believe that listening to ...
Advantages: Great songs with original sounding vocals! Disadvantages: Would possibly only appeal to people interested in the rock/punk/emo styles of music
This album is simply brilliant in my opinion! Canadian band BillyTalent have been forgotten about or overlooked by too many people and yet they have produced 2 of my favourite albums!
I would recommend giving either 'BillyTalent' (previous album) or 'BillyTalent II' (this album) a listen, because even if you try it and its not for you, its better than completely overlooking these 2 brilliant records.
If you enjoy the music of My Chemical Romance, Lostprophets, any punk such as The Ramones, or especially something such as Anti-Flag, then BillyTalent could very well be for you!
My personal favourite songs on this album are 'This Suffering', 'Perfect World' and 'Burn the Evidence',
In my ever over-opinionated mind, I have ordered the tracks on this album to show which songs I think are the strongest.
1 - This Suffering ...

Album Notes
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Billy Talent: Benjamin Kowalewicz (vocals); Ian D'Sa (guitar, background vocals); Jonathan Gallant (bass, background vocals); Aaron Solowoniuk (drums). Recorded at The factory, Vancouver, Canada and A Room Full Of Stuff, Toronto, Canada. The self-titled debut album from Canadian pop-punkers Billy Talent finds the group foregoing the usual sing-song jokiness of bands like Blink 182 in favor of an old school approach that recalls everything from the original British punk of the Buzzcocks to 1980s L.A. hardcore. Charismatic lead vocalist Benjamin Kowalewicz has a strident delivery that combines the in-your-face whine of vintage Jello Biafra with the anthemic shouts of Jane's Addiction's Perry Farrell. Meanwhile, the rest of the band pounds away with a clean guitar-driven attack that often sounds like neo-garage rock of the Strokes/Vines/Flaming Sideburns variety, but with considerably more chops. Overall, BILLY TALENT is the work of an unusually tight and powerful band that knows its history but is more than creative enough to avoid mere revivalism.
