The 2nd outing from the Canadian Rock/Punk outfit Billy Talent, creatively titled Billy Talent II.
Over last few years they've gained quite a following after the release of 'Billy Talent' their debut album. And not without reason, 'Billy Talent' was really like a slap in the face, and was a amazing album, whereas 'Billy Talent II" is like a kick in the balls, but gives you some sympathy afterwards.
Opening track 'Devil in a Midnight Mass' is a out and out Billy Talent song, with an underlying riff that will stick in your head for days, the track abruptly ends and takes you into 'Red Flag', a stomping song and one of the album highlights.
Song after song, the production and quality is exceptional, the drums are clear and hard hit, Ian D'Sa's guitar playing is still as hot as the 1st album, you wouldn't believe that listening to this record that there is 1 guitar player, his choppy guitar riffs are the best in the business.
The lyrics on this album are the same high high standard, covering all aspects of life, and delivered in Ben's (I think) unique vocal style, though he seems to have calmed down considerably in the albums lyrics and delivery, which isn't a bad thing.
There are definitely more softer songs on the album, check out 'Surrender' for example.
It's always hard following an awesome debut, and I was really hoping up to the release of this album that it wouldn't disappoint. And on 1st listen, I was blow away.
Billy Talent are unique and I cannot put them in a genre, get this record, then get the 1st, play them back to back and get 2 hours of enjoyment.
You won't be disappointed.

sounds like quite a quality CD, review could do with more info though....as i know nothing of this band!
