Birk's Works [CD On Demand] - Dizzy Gillespie

Advantages: Rzeznik's voice is amazing.
Disadvantages: Tacak's is not, ruin's the album

...album case however it sort of works for the album. A very weird but though provoking album cover, it certainly makes you look. Should you buy the album? Probably not no, there are some outstanding tracks however it's ruined by some pretty awful tracks. However if you do want to either just buy the great tracks or even the album as a whole here is where you can get it from. Itunes- Itunes sell tracks for 79p I think it is, I would recommend buying them like this as you can just get the great ones. Amazon/Play- I haven't looked at Play but I know amazon and play.com are always around the same price. You can buy the CD on amazon for around £4.00 which is really quite a lot of money, but no where near the £11 I actually spent on it from Virgin Megastores. Advantages: Hard Bop excellence

...The first two tracks offer a blistering hard bop frenzy. I would pay a full album price just for "eternal triangle", track number two. Sonny Stitt and Rollins complement each other very well and the contrast from Dizzy really pushes this albulm along. This is probably my favourite album at the moment. Sonny Side up is a great upbeat start to the album with some really lovely solos form all three and cool singing from dizzy. The Eternal triangle is a composition by sonny Stitt and it's where the record really takes off. The two tenors start trying to outdo each other and it just builds and builds. This is my favourite track - truely breathtaking. After Hours is a bluesy track with some nice piano. I kno that you know finishes off nicely. A truely great album. Essential.... Read review

...and drum solos! Instead the vocals are the main feature, and deservedly so in my opinion. Although they aren't particularly thought provoking or philosophical, they're fun and catchy and you can definitly relate to them. As i'd never even heard of the Goo Goo Dolls before I got this CD, I'm not too sure which tracks have been released as singles. I know that Slide and Iris (my two favorites) definitly were but I'm unsure about the others, I'll do some more research and edit when I've found out! Iris is the track that most people have heard of. I know that it caused a lot of people to go out and buy the album and it's probably the most well known of all the songs included.
