Well this newer version is not perfect either, but it sure is a lot better sound quality than before. A further remake of this album called “The complete Birth Of Cool is now also available with lots more added tracks by Miles Davis and it sounds great.

Reasons For Purchasing
I was first introduced to this type of Jazz music by My Grandmother and Grandfather who loved listening to Miles Davis and of course their choice of music rubbed off on my own Mother, who I remember as a child, played the Miles Davis Quintet quite a lot also. I took this CD from my Grandmothers collection after she died three years ago and I am glad I did, as now I have got the chance to write about this CD.

This is quite an interesting album I have to say, it features twelve excellent jazz songs from Miles Davis. I listen to this CD when I am relaxed, feeling low or even in a party mood, as this is a great album for every occasion. This album seems to have a little bit of everything included and each song holds also, some fantastic memories for me, about my Grandparents, when I was growing up. They both used to dance around a lot to this CD and those memories of this music are happy ones to me that make me smile to myself when I think about this. I love listening to this album a lot and not because I am a huge jazz fan or anything, but because my Grandparents and all these songs, really mean a lot to me.

A Little Bit About Miles Davis.
Miles Davis came onto the music scene in the late 1940’s. He was an American trumpeter and played mostly jazz music. He worked for a few bands before he went out on his own, as a jazz musician. At that time in the late 1940,s fast jazz was the latest craze, but Miles Davis had his own style of this Music. It was called cool jazz and became very popular. After a few years Miles made the record ‘Walkin’ and this lead the way for another style of Jazz music. It was bebop music with a twist of slow jazz only Miles Davis could perform with his trumpet. In 1955 Miles Davis formed the famous group called “ The Miles Davis Quintet” It was very successful.

Miles Davis had worked on this Album The Birth of Cool for years before finally releasing it on LP in 1950. Front Cover To Birth Of Cool Re-mastered.
The front cover to this CD is quiet nice. It is a lovely black and white photograph of Miles Davis in his Prime, playing his highly polished trumpet on stage. The title “Birth Of Cool“, is clearly headed at the top with the words “Cool” written in red, that help to brighten up the front cover and add a touch of colour. Of course Miles Davis name is nicely printed underneath this heading and Capitol records is also written and circled on the right hand side. Over all it’s a nice cover to this album, that features a great photograph of Miles Davis.

Back Cover To Birth Of Cool Re-mastered.
The back cover to this CD features another great photograph of Miles Davis looking more casual than the picture on the front and wearing a cheeky grin on his face. It is also a black and white photograph, but it looks very nice. All twelve tracks that are featured on this album are clearly marked on the left hand side and are very easy to read in white print. Of course most of the people involved with this albums names are written on the back also and of course Capitol records. Overall a Great looking back cover to this album with easy to read track listings.

Move:
Move is a typical slow Jazz track. It is a nice mix of trumpet and saxophone sounds played, to a very high standard. It is a nice easy listening track that will have you wanting to dance around to this, whenever you hear it played. It really is a great included jazz piece of well composed music on this excellent album.

Jeru:
Jeru is another typical slow jazz track. It features Miles Davis on his trumpet a lot in this track, with also plenty of great saxophone, trombone and percussion sounds. It’s a nice piece of Jazz I like listening to and is a very relaxing and entertaining piece of beautiful jazz music overall.

Moon Dreams:
I love Moon dreams. It is the best piece of music on this CD. It reminds me when I was little and my Grandparents where dancing around slowly and very contently to this great piece of jazz music. This is a very slow jazz track and has great percussion music through this also. This song hold great memories to me.

Jeru:
Jeru is another typical slow jazz track. It features Miles Davis on his trumpet a lot in this track, with also plenty of great saxophone, trombone and percussion sounds. It’s a nice piece of Jazz music I like listening to and is a very relaxing and entertaining piece of beautiful jazz music.

Moon Dreams:
I love Moon dreams. It is the best piece of music on this CD. It reminds me when I was little and my Grandparents where dancing around slowly and very contently to this great piece of jazz music. This is a very slow jazz track and has great percussion music through this also. This song hold great memories to me.

This is a great piece of trumpet music that features a few saxophones also and is a lovely piece of jazz music in my opinion. This track also holds special memories to me of my Grandparents and is a very relaxing piece of music.

Budo:
This is a really typical piece of jazz music and is played note perfect by Miles Davis on his trumpet and features lots of other great instruments. I like this piece of Music a lot and it’s a nice easy listening piece of music and one of the better ones on the album.

Deception:
This is a great piece of music. This track features lots of drum, saxophone and trumpet sounds that mix beautifully together to create this wonderful piece of jazz music, that I really like. This is a great track and certainly worth listening to. This is also a great dance along to jazz piece of music that will have you up on your feet, moving to it, whenever you here it played.

Godchild:
This is a great little Jazz song. The rhythm to this song really has you tapping your feet to it quickly. It is beautifully played on the trumpet by Miles Davis and features lots of cymbals and just great overall percussion sounds. I like this track and I think it’s a great one for relaxing to also. This is a great track to listen to also for all saxophone fans out there.

Boplicity:
This is another typical jazz track and a really well put together piece of work. This is a great piece to dance to also and I remember my Grandparents dancing around together to this song. It’s really great and will have you tempted to grab your parent to dance with you whenever you here this. It features Miles on his trumpet and great piano sounds. A great Jazz piece in my opinion and a better one also on this album.

Rocker:
Unlike the title, Rocker will not have you head banging to this piece. It is really a very slow, beautifully performed piece of typical jazz music. It has lovely pieces of music blended together on saxophones throughout this song with an added trumpet sound also occasionally. It really is a great piece of jazz music to listen to and one of my favourites from this album.

Israel:
Another great track with plenty of saxophone sounds mingled with the trumpet that is perfectly played by Miles Davis. It really is nice to listen to this piece to relax and chill out. I like this piece a lot and I am really glad it’s included on this album re-mastered.

Rouge:
A typical piece of big band, blues, type of jazz music, with a great piano piece, that’s played a lot through out this track. It really is worth listening to this if you like jazz music, as it’s really great to listen and dance to.

Darn That Dream:
Darn that Dream is the only track on this album that has vocals and it is beautifully sang by Kenny Haggod. He sings about just ‘Darn everything‘. It has a great piano piece accompanying him with Miles Davis on his trumpet of course also. This is a great Jazz song I really love and know all the words to because my Grandparents always sang it to each other.

My Overall Opinion About Darn That Dream Re-mastered.
Well I personally love this CD. It holds so much happy memories of when I was growing up and when I spent time with my grandparents. All of these songs really take me back years and I love recalling those times a lot. This really is a true jazz album that certainly is one of the best of it’s type of all times. Miles Davis was the King of Jazz in my opinion. He played his trumpet and put together these beautiful pieces of music like no other person of his time.

I really would highly recommend this album, if you are into jazz music or just wanting to try out some relaxing music ,that’s slightly different to listen to. This is also a great album to listen to for any saxophone lovers and trumpet players also, as it really will show you how it is done. It really is very nice indeed. It also is a great album for any dance fanatics, who are into old time jazz also. There’s great pieces of music on this album to keep you dancing for hours, although this is more slow moving pieces of music on this album also.

Overall I am really glad to have Miles Davis in my CD collection. I love all types of music and Miles is certainly at the top of my of my Jazz CDs. Truly a great album from a great trumpeter and composer that is a must for anyone’s collections, who are into this type of great music. This gets ten out of ten in the jazz section. Thumbs up Miles and Rest in Peace.
