Whenever I come across a Jazz music, the first thing that comes in mind is Miles Davis. One of the most renowned musician himself, the album " Birth of the cool " speaks volumes of the man's greatness. So before I review the album, I want to present to you some precious piece of information regarding the great man and the album.

Miles Davis

Miles Davis was one of the most renowned musicians, born on May 25, 1926 in Alton, Illinois. He is incidental in the development of the world of Jazz from the World War II period up to late 1980's. The great man is also partially responsible for creation of jazz fusion, bebop style, jazz funk etc.,Some of the leading musicians featured in Miles Davis group are:
Tony Williams -- drummer
John Mcglauglin -- guitarist
John Coltrane, George Coleman -- Saxophonists
Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock are the others..

From his early days of life, he had great passion for music and his commitment to music led him to travel far beyond the world of Jazz. In 1968, he began using electric keyboards, electric bass, electric guitar, clarinet and other percussion instruments which created new sounds which caught people wild with fire. Thus Davis renowned the world of music with his style and commitment.

Birth of the Cool

Birth of the cool happened between 1949 and 1950, when Miles Davis recorded the songs for Capitol Records with variety of instruments and innovativeness in music, which was inspired by classical music. Ultimately, this album also led to the major development of post-bebop jazz. Miles Davis with his nonet ( Nonet includes 9 best musicians which include Miles Davis Davis (trumpet), Mike Zwerin (trombone), Bill Barber (tuba), Junior Collins (French horn), Gerry Mulligan (baritone saxophone), Lee Konitz (alto saxophone), John Lewis (piano), Al McKibbon (bass), and Max Roach (drums))performed this album with so much innovativeness that it struck the audience in awe. This album also marked the primary use of bebop style music in cool jazz.

My verdict

I am a lover of Jazz music which made me to make a verdict of it. A detailed review of each of the above tracks is here:

Move

Move is a Denzel Best' s best. The track greets you with nice blend of sexaphone and trumpet in a cool Jazz tone. A foot tapping tone, it makes you instantly glued to the song.

Jeru

Basically, Jeru is a slow Jazz which surprises you with Miles Davis' trumpet but it picks up momentum after the inclusion of sexaphone and other percussion instruments. This makes the song really interesting.

Moon Dreams

Moon Dreams, a romantic Jazz, a great gift that a lover can expect from his or her beloved. Full fledged percussion instrument tone marks the feature of the track. you will just enjoy it.

Venus de milo

A very soft Jazz music with cool trumpets and sexaphone which provides the soothing effect to the heart. Recommended for heart patients!!!

Budo

My favourite track in the entire album, Budo, the song rocks with the trumpet and other instruments which is attractive and innovative. You will just love it...

Deception

Here, the post-bebop style is cleanly seen blended with ever green Jazz. Drums and other percussions, trumpet attracts your attention makes you glued to the seat. No wonder, this is one of the albums which modernised Jazz.
Godchild

This is a little Jazz song. Like most of the Miles Davis' this also yields soothing effect to the users. This song has its inspiration from classical music which is incidental in this work.
Boplicity

Truly, this song didnt catch my attention. This music is too slow unlike the other tracks. Though others love this music, it never attracted me. I dont know why!!!
Rocker

The title misleads you to a song with slow Jazz music incidental with Miles Davis trumpet wishing you with ever green bibop style mixed in equal proportions with classical to yield a classical work
Irsrael

This song is included in the album remastered. It is a nice song to relax and hope every one chill out with the trumpet performed by Miles Davies. Though Miles Davis trumpet attracts you, it is the saxophone sound which steals the show!!!
Rouge

A Jazz fusion with great piano effect that instantly makes your foot to tap at the music and dance to its tone. You will just enjoy it!!!

Darn that dream

This is only work in the album which has vocals sung by Kenny Haggod. His vocals makes you shed tears due to the effect it creates when combines with Miles Davis' trumpet and sexaphone. This is brilliant.
Other goodies

* Miles Davis greatness went to such an extent that it is used in one of the greatest comic strips " Sympsons" in the episodes "Mypods and Boomsticks" and "The Dad Who Knew Too Little".

* " Birth of the Cool" also became Lisa Sympson's favourite music album.
A rating of 4.5/5 by music critics speaks volumes of the man and his work. So what are you waiting for, grab the "Birth of the cool" right now.
