The Album -
Turns To Ashes - the track kicks off with a very bass heavy sound very reminiscent of korn but far more blunt this riff is foundation for the song and all the guitars and drums really tie's in ell , brocks vocals are very emotional that mix from screams to a very distinctive Wobble when he sings.
One More Word - The song start off at pace with some heavy snare drum pounding, brock then hits us ith the wobbly vocals before unleashing some screams and some death metal growls from steve holts backin vocals the song takes a new direction and the riffs become more grinding and groove oriented before more screams from brock and the song moving more up tempo.
An Agreement Called Forever - the songs starts with jangly symbols and with brock singing in a more laid back manner the song being a bit more calmer than the previous 2 and as a more calm interludes to catch a breath before things take off with brocks screams and the guitar and bass rolling around the snare being pounded.
Eightminuteupsidedown - this starts is an fx peddle guitar riff before breaking into a catchy grooving riff then brock starts singing with that distinctive voice, the song takes a nice grinding riff thats takes us into the third verse where again the band mix melodic chrous with pounding verse's.
Slit Wrist Theroy - the riff is hard to explain in words but it's kinda jangly before exploding into another bass heavy sounding riff when brock starts screaming the song basically stays in this vain going back and forth between the screams and singing.
Bury Me Where I Fall - This song has the most grinding, groove oriented guitar riff to start with it has a kinda (Skinlab Feel to it) but it does have Steev Esquavil has guest singer on it, brocks vocals are more wobbly and steev providing the gruff throaty parts, this is the song stays through out.
Dislocate - fx laden guitar riff intro explodes into bass heavy sounds and brocks wobbly singing coming in over the top this is a very good song to dance to, giving time take a breather before the song drives forward with brocks screams.
Two Months From A Year - Again fx laden intro that brock is singing softly over the top off before the guitar lets rip and the snare is so apparent on this song and is being pounded, brocks voice is being a little raspy has the song weaves in and out calm and up tempo moments.
Chalk White - Another little jangly intro that moves back into the groovey and grinding area of previous songs, brocks vocals are has steller has before, the grinding riffs only let up only for brock to sing.
All I Am - The starts with lo isper from brock and steams off driving it's self into a jangly fx laden bridge here brock sings and the guitars change and revert into a mix of jangly grinding riffage.
Ceramic - Straight off with the scream befoire the wobbly vocals start the music has some urgency to it and is full of little breakdowns, the song is like the band has a reneed energy and are ready to let rip again in which they do with a bouncing riff in which brock obbles his voice over.
Circle The Drain - Starts ith some heavy pounding of the drums and a growl from brock before singing his heart out the song is energetic and breaks into a melodic chrous before ripping the verse to bits.
Left Hand Charity - This song is a very lo-fi melancholy song with jangly guitar licks and distent drums and has clastrophobic feel to it.
My Opinion - I completly love this album and the band they as a breath of fresh air in the music scene that as becoming stagnent much like today, hat makes them stand above the rest there not afraid to use their instruments to there fullest and brocks distintive vocals blow the competiton away overall this album rocks hard, is full of emotion and best of all when any of it's song are played in rock clubs it's dancable.
Advantages: Catchy metal songs, easy to get into Disadvantages: Not for people who don't like screaming
The afformentioned song was undoubtably 36CF's flagship song and sent them on their way to the stardom they have now achieved.
I first heard them whilst scanning the music channels and happened to catch Slit Wrist Theory. Immediately I was taken in by the sound of the band. Brock, the vocalist for the band has a very distinguishable voice and although a few may find it irritating, I found myself singing along. 36CF's mix melodic sounds with very ... ...on the CD and also lighter ones, I found there to be a good mix and have yet to hear a bad song. I would try and compare them to other bands, but that wouldn't do them justice. Check out their official site for free downloads of a few of the tracks before you buy. You may not like them and may decide not to buy the album. However, you may like them and fall in love with the band like I did. ...

Advantages: Listening to this will make you much prefer their second album Disadvantages: a bit too much 'heard it all before'.
...Most of the verses on Bitterness the Star are sung in this wobbly, shaky style. i know some who do not like his style of singing but personally i think its a bit different and i quite like it.
This Alaskan quartet can rock, I'll give them that. i've seen them live twice now and the music is pounding and driving enough to get the crowd moving. On songs like "An Agreement Called Forever" and "Turned to Ashes" the vocal mix is dead on and demands your ... ...this album. it was strange, when their second album came out, which granted is of much better quality than this 'dark' sounding album, i suddenly found myself listening to and enjoying this debut much more. Tracks like "slit wrist theory" suddenly stood out at me and to this day i believe this is one of their most favoured tracks. this become evident during their live shows.
In contrast to their second album this debut is much better listened to ...

Album Reviews
Alternative Press (June 2002, p.90) - 7 out of 10 - "...Intelligent palm-muted riffs swell to well-placed metalcore grooves. Like Boy Sets Fire benching 350 pounds..." NME (5/4/02, p.36) - 7 out of 10 - "...One protracted, eye-bulging roar. For this is chaotic metal in the dynamic of Glassjaw or Deftones, all rabid splattercore rage and pulverising motion..." CMJ (3/11/02, p.16) - "...a sound reminiscent of emotional noise-makers like Glassjaw and Amen..."
