...A Black & White Delight!!
I find there is nothing better on a miserable day than to settle down with the fire on to watch an old black & white movie! Now for those of you who are too young to remember, and that of course includes me (not!), before colour television was available all programmes were viewed in black and white. Not only were the old movies televised in black & white, but the original footage is in black & white, due to the lack of technology then of colour film. What a strange concept by today’s standards, actually filming something which is obviously in varying colour, but the outcome you see is nothing but black and white. However, that for me is the magic of those old movies, a captured period of time gone by…
However, today, with all technology available to enhance the finished footage……..

Advantages: It is well written music. It has some really good songs and would appeal to a lot of people not normally metal fans Disadvantages: It is a big change from previous albums and doesn't match what we expect.
...of money grabbing because i doubt that they are doing that. But we cant help but wonder with the so called brilliant 'White Pony'. Don't get me wrong i like it, it has good songs on it. Teenager shows that not all metal bands have to write heavy music to make a nice sound. But its just not Deftones is it. Its good in itself but its not what we want from them. I am sure a lot of people were dissapointed. Although not all will admit to it in fear of not being a true fan. I am also sure there are many people who have been Deftones fans from the start really like it but its not quite what i wanted. I am still a Deftones fan but 'White Pony' is not on my C.D. player nearly as much as their previous albums. But in the end its you who decides....

Advantages: Some more killer rock tracks from the saviours of modern rock Disadvantages: A few dud tracks spoil it a little
...which is the songs only real downfall.
Marks out of 10: 8.5 - the whole notion of Heaven and Hell is not one explored thoroughly by many rock artists but I think the White Stripes always manage to do it well.
Effect and Cause:
Going back to a more country based sound that many may expect of the duo, 'Effect and Cause' is a very easy track to end the album on. It's not too complicated lyrically and is one of those tracks which you just can't help but tap your toes too! All in all, not too bad but nothing ground breaking.
Marks out of 10: 7.5 - an OK way to end the album but it isn't anything that sticks in your mind as being a killer track or anything.
