Dead Presidents Film Review

What I like about Dead Presidents is the characters never really feel heartless or completely clichéd; they always seem interesting and believable, despite things changing within their home environment. The film gives you the impression that these youths are dissatisfied by the treatment they received as black soldiers, but never goes too far as to shove it down our throats. Accompanied by a mellow blues soundtrack, the atmosphere feels relaxed throughout. That is until Anthony and his friends decide to rob an armoured car full with thousands of used dollar bills ("the slang term being "dead presidents"). This scene just seems to come out of no where. What's more puzzling is Anthony's sister-in-law Delilah -- a black revolutionist who has never committed a crime in her life ...

Out For Dead Presidents

Advantages: Great soundtrack, fascinating story, well acted,

Dead Presidents is a 1995 film, written and directed by (Allen and Albert,) The Hughes Brothers, known for directing 'Menace II Society' and 'From Hell.' It stars Larenz Tate (Menace II Society), Chris Tucker (Rush Hour) and Freddy Rodriguez (Planet Terror/Six Feet Under.) The documents a four year period between 1969 and 1973 in The New York Bronx district during the vietnam war and follows the fortunes of three schoolfriends and the other surrounding inhabitants of their neighbourhood. The film is a graphic look at the events of the time, especially seeing as there is a good thirty/forty minute chunk in the middle set in Vietnam. However, the film is primarily set in New York. Dead President's contrasts these two settings to make a statement on the impact of war upon people and addresses alot of the issues faced by the soldiers when ...

Would the President stay here?

Advantages: central location, jacuzzi baths, helpful staff
Disadvantages: not consistent in its standards

At the end of a week long boating holiday in cramped conditions, we treated ourselves to a night of comfort in a four star hotel in Split. We wanted somewhere comfortable and central, so after studying the web, we selected the Hotel President. Location We chose the hotel mainly because of its location, as we were only there for a short time and we wanted to be able to get around quickly on foot. The Hotel President is a 5 minute walk from the old town and Diocletian's Palace. The hotel folder in the room says it is 5 minutes walk to the business area and 10 minutes walk to the railway, bus station and harbour. I think these are slight underestimates based on our walk around town, especially as it is quite busy down by the harbour (and we were just at the beginning of the season).
