When news broke that the album wasn't being delayed til 2008, but instead being brought forward to October, I began hearing all these rave reviews about this single in particular and the title of this song was even being rumoured as the album name instead of the now finalised 'Blackout'. ... lackluster MTV performance and dubious appearances all over the tabloids. Blackout, her fifth studio album, is being touted as a bit of a comeback album, the title allegedly alluding to how she is "blacking out" all negative media coverage and focusing on getting back to form. Backed by an array of superstar beatmakers--Bloodshy & Avant, Pharrell Williams, T-Pain, Danja--Blackout presents a soundtrack that brims with trashy new-wave `nowness'. Tunes veer from the highly infectious "Freakshow" and "Toy Soldier" to the unconvincingly lascivious "Get Naked," "Ooh, Ooh Baby", and downright uninspiring ("Radar" and "Hot As Ice")--with some inroads into dirty disco ("Heaven on Earth") along the way. The tunes aren't bad, but the brittle, robotic soundtrack does start to feel dated and dull, especially when Britney's vocals are so intensely processed they feel equally starchy and disinterested. Comeback album it may be, but "Blackout" doesn't point towards any clear future for Britney--nor for pop music in general. --Danny McKenna
Advantages: Britney shows why she is the queen of pop Disadvantages: No new direction
* Britney Spears. Where to start? *
Two months ago I logged on here and reviewed Britney's comeback single, 'Gimme More', which has proved to be just as huge of a hit as a expected it to be. Becoming her most successful single since her debut, and looking to reach the top five in the UK chart in a week where single sales have been through the roof, based on this single alone Britney should be the biggest thing in the music industry right now. Fast ... ...verdict on this review you're going to hear nothing but comments of disappointment. So, if you're interested in hearing how Britney some how made her fifth studio album fall apart when she had a great single release from it, carry on by all means. * GIMME MORE (4.01) *
Britney's back, bitch. As I mentioned in the introduction to this review, as soon as I heard this leak on to the internet and melt its way on to the radio playlists I had to post ...

Advantages: Catchy, great beats Disadvantages: Overproduced
INTRODUCTION
You have to have been living under a rock this last year (arguably the last 9 years) not to know who Britney is. Unfortunately the focus hasn't been on her music since 2003 when 'In the Zone' was released. Since then she has become a running joke, train wreck, living a downward spiral that involves custody battles, head shaving, multiple divorces and attacking people with umbrellas. The once sweet and innocent, loveable pop princess ... ...reasons.
This album is the make or break point for Britney. It has been hyped up beyond belief and been called her comeback album, her chance to prove that she's still got the ability to make us dance.
The signs weren't good. No promotion bar a shambolic performance at the VMAs, her public image in tatters, Britney still managed to pull it out of the bag with the lead single, Gimme More. It became her biggest hit since ...Baby One More Time in ...

...After hearing the new album of BritneySpears many times, I would finally say that it's a nice CD. Good reviews from this new album were actually true. Tracks from this album were enjoyable to listen. I actually liked the tracks "Gimme More", "Piece of Me", "Radar", "Break The Ice", "Toy Soldier" and "Hot As Ice." Songs from this album is not the usual Britney songs that we usually hear before. She's now a dance pop princess sounding like Kylie Minogue and Madonna. If you are undecided to buy this album, I think you should give it a try. Britney's personal life is far behind this album. I just hope it would sell better since it continues to drop in the Billboard's album chart. probably the songs inside definitely conquer the music scene...

Advantages: Really good beats, Unlike Britney's old albums and not typical pop Disadvantages: A lot of the songs sound alike
...I was never a big fan of BritneySpears, but this comeback of hers is great. A lot of the songs (or all, even) do sound computerised, so you have to like that kind of thing. If you like 'Gimme More' and 'Piece of Me', you will definitely like many more of the tunes on this album. Not all of the songs are great, but they never are on 1 album. Some of the songs are a bit samey, but I do think that this genre really suits her. There is one song on the album, called 'Get Naked (I Got a Plan)' that I'm sure will be her next big hit. The beats on this album are really good and if you like tunes with a good beat, then this is a must have for you....
