Additional notes
Album Notes: Issued in honor of BLADE RUNNER's 25th anniversary, this three-CD set is the last word on Vangelis's moody score, which was previously released in hard-to-find or incomplete form. The first disc features the remastered 1994 version of the soundtrack, including the Greek composer's appropriately synthetic-sounding mood piece "Blade Runner Blues" and the chiming ambient number "Tears in Rain," while the second disc presents tracks from the revered sci-fi film that didn't make the album (the robotic "Dr. Tyrell's Owl," for example). Finally, the third disc consists of new compositions by Vangelis written in the spirit of the original score (see the majestic, drifting "Up and Running"), deftly book-ending the project between '82 and 2007.
Album Reviews: The Word (magazine) (p.107) - "Sumptuous synths, Dick Morrissey's incongruous sax and lonely pianos speak of the better life that the replicants seek....One of the most beautiful film scores ever conceived."
Advantages: Beautiful, emotional music Disadvantages: Not good if you don't like the wailing vocal effects.
...Bladerunner, as many of my friends know only too well, is my most favourite film of all time. I must have watched it a dozen times or more. The film is a true artistic masterpiece both in a filmography sense and for it's outstanding original soundtrack.
The original soundtrack was written and performed by Vangelis - also well known for writing the music for 'Chariots of Fire' as well as "1492" (Christopher Columbus). I have a particular liking for synthesised music and film soundtracks and Vangelis is in my opinion the master of the synthesised film soundtrack. His music is original, contempory and evocative. In fact I'd say he's nothing short of a musical genius!
His work on the Bladerunner film is one of the most memorable soundtracks that i have ever heard. It is varied and sensitive to the film throughout and just listening...

Advantages: Atmospheric and Re creates the Feeling of the film Disadvantages: If you dont like the film not worth it
...Wow! After being such a big fan I was very eager to get the soundtarck which I was not dissappointed with at all. A fantastic piece of atmospheric music that manages to create the dark and futuristic feelings of them film with slight soundbites from the film - most notably on track 12 (Tears In Heaven) with the "I have seen things ..."speech which any Bladerunner fan knows probably off by heart! Vangelis produced something as special with the soundtrack as Ridley Scott created with the film. This is a must for any bladerunner fan....

Advantages: Diverse sampler for some of Vangelis' extensive discography. Disadvantages: Lacks context, and ignores much classic material.
...piece to play out as the cinema audience leave their seats for the foyer, the 'Love Theme' comes from the middle of the film, in the thick of the plot and character interaction. It's certainly lacking the atmosphere that would be built from the tracks preceding it, and can easily be skimmed over as "the sax song" here, robbed of its essential context more than anything else on this collection, which mainly provides endless false starts. Vangelis' soundtrack to 'Blade Runner' works perfectly in the film, complimenting the equally incredible visuals to the point that I never even care about the weak story and numerous plot holes. As an audiovisual experience, I consider 'Blade Runner' a special treat, and one that fails to be represented even when juxtaposing these two segments of the soundtrack.
With this one exception, Vangelis' non...
