Advantages: Refreshing sound from Idol, Unique style, surprisingly good album! Disadvantages: There's a bloody rent-a-rapper in one of the tracks!
Introduction:
BlakeLewis? You would be forgiven for thinking, Who? Unless of course you were an avid viewer of last season's American Idol, in which you would know that BlakeLewis came second, losing out to Jordin Sparks. Lewis was one of the favourites throughout the whole competition. He brought a freshness to Idol and brought new talents to the table, namely his ability to 'beatbox' (for those that don't know, this is when you make the sound effects of a drum kit with your mouth into a microphone) in a such an incredible way, that made Justin Timberlake look like he just beatboxes with a fisher price singalong, when he has a go at it.
His voice has a quality that reminds me of a throw back to the 80s, almost Depeche Mode-esque, with a dash of The Cure?like something you would expect to hear in films such as 'The Breakfast ...
Advantages: Funny, can watch more than once, Disadvantages: none
The Heartbreak Kid is a rom com film, with Ben Stiller at his finest. I'm always a fan of Ben Stiller films (he just has one of those faces) but, this is, in my opinion, one of his funniest.
Ben Stiller plays Eddie, a 40 year old singleton. He attends the wedding of his ex (cue hilarious scenes and one liners) and realises that he would really like to settle down. The realisation seems to be thrust upon him at the wedding breakfast where he finds himself sat on the 'singles' table. In reality, this proves to be the kids table and there are various laughs when these kids question why he's sat there.
He then meets, Lila (played by Malin Akerman) in the street, where he helps her after he believes that she has been mugged. In a whirlwind romance, he proposes to her, believing this to be the only way he can stop her from being ...
Advantages: Excellent chemistry between cast, makes the odd serious point, simple enjoyable fluff. Disadvantages: Too many reliance on cleavage, nothing new here, Liotta out of place.
Never in my life have I seen a film that depends so much on the breasts of it's stars. Each scene seems to feature more cleavage than the last, to the point where at the end it's amazing they are still bothering with clothes at all. This is obviously shamelessly done to pull in the male audience to what will be regarded by them as a "chick flick", but it's a shame that it distracts the viewer away from the film itself, which amongst all of it's cliches does actually have some intelligent comments to make.
Heartbreakers focuses on a mother and daughter con-team. The mother, Max (Sigourney Weaver) spends months in relationships with men until they marry her. Her daughter, Paige (Jennifer Love Hewitt) then enters the picture and seduces the man, and they are convieniantly caught by Max, resulting in a large divorce settlement. As ...
