Blanket Over Your Eyes, A - Cat On Form

...To say Open Your Eyes is a lousy album is a little unfair as it does have certain redeeming features like the wonderful harmonies evident on songs like New State Of Mind and the title track. There is also the fact that the musicianship is flawless, occasionally fairly complex and on the very odd occasion bordering on magnificent. Finally, in the case for the defence, you have to consider the new age inspired hidden track at the end of the album which manages to piece together threads of lyrics and harmonies from the previous songs and puts stock in the album's credibility up a couple of points at least. Unfortunately the bland and overly commercial pieces on the album really drag it down. Man In The Moon for example fills you with a real desire to destroy not only the cd but your cd player, so there is no danger of ever hearing... Read review

Advantages: Probably one of the best rock albums ever recorded
Disadvantages: Formula One ruined 'The Chain.' (The Corrs ruined 'Dreams')

.... Its sheer brilliance shines through its enlightening melody. It lifts the soul and the working of these voices together brings strength and character to the track. Inspiring musically and emotionally uplifting lyrically. 'Go Your Own Way.' This track maintains this wonderful, spiritually powerful album. This thunderous track allows the talents of Mick as a drummer and Lindsay as a guitarist shine throughout. Nicks hammers hard at her tambourine whilst all member provide the backing as well as the lead. Released in February 1977, it managed a pathetic number 38 in our U.K charts. Obviously, this track went straight over people's heads at the time. Perhaps only now, with our planet and existence in such turmoil and uncertainty can we actually appreciate this album for the personal struggle that it really was and relate to the struggles we...
