Advantages: flowed with the film perfectly, very powerful, emotional. Disadvantages: some tracks have overdone beats.

Ever since i heard Hans Zimmer's Gladiator soundtrack i've been hooked on film scores. (Don't worry i do like other music as well!!) It added something extra to the film, which made me enjoy it even more. A good film is usually accompanied by a good score, and this is no exception.
I must say i went into the cinema, to watch Blood Diamond, with little expectation. I came out quite emotional. The film touched most of the people in the cinema. The acting was very good, the story line touched a nerve, and the music was powerful. From the first time i heard the music my senses hightened and i felt goose pimples. (maybe i was just having a bad day!) Seriously though, its not often something like that can affect you, but it did. Everytime i listen to it it reminds me of moments in the film. On that note it'd be a good idea to watch the film before listening to the soundtrack. You get much more involved in it that way.
The music itself is a mixture of African/Tribe beat and orchestral accompanyment. There's the usual fast paced (maybe a touch overdone with the beats) action and the slower, moody and more touching side. Its good to listen to to unwind after a busy day at work, or when sitting outside soaking up the sun. The main theme is repeated on about four of the tracks which some might find annoying, but i like it. It follows other good soundtracks in that sense, like those listed below.
Just so you know what other scores i like so you can get an idea of my taste: Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Bourne Supremacy, Last of the Mohicans and Zulu.
As with any soundtrack/album there will be songs/tracks that you don't like. Thats the beauty of a computer. If you have one and import the tracks you can listen to the tracks you want to - not the whole thing.
Enjoy.

Quick review of Blood Diamond - Various Artists
I went to the Cinema in Canada to watch this film, so obviously it was out alot sooner, than it was here in the U.K. I watched it when it was recommend to me by one of my friends, to be honest, it was one of those films you went to that you weren't quite sure if it was your kind of thing, but honestly, it was the best film I have ever seen!! I thought it was very impacting and truthfull, which alot of films tend to hide nowadays! It is quite violent in places, but definatly worhwile watching. You tend to close of your mind to things that actually happen (war, poverty, child soliders, blood diamons, smuggling etc) but this film will really open your eyes to what goes on in the world. I have now purchased this DVD, and it is one you will never get bored of! A must have!! ...
