Blood On The Bricks - Aldo Nova

Brick by brick it all untangles!

Advantages: Class story, great acting from Levitt, style abounds in it
Disadvantages: Not sure there are any in my view!

Brick is the first film I have seen in a long time that is near impossible to put into a descriptive box. It is set around a high school, but isn't a teen love story or comedy. It is set in modern times, but acts like it isn't, it is a detective story of sorts but without any sign of a law enforcement officer or private detective. It harkens back, in tone and dialogue, to a 30's Marlowe or Sam Spade story, but has only two adults in it and is set, as I said in our own time period. Brick is an enigma, indefinable but undoubtedly a work of genius. For a first time film maker it shows vision and style that puts it on par with Richard Kellys' Donnie Darko, another teen film that wasn't really a teen film. Review of Brick (DVD)

Brick Lane

Advantages: Good ending
Disadvantages: quite boring and a bit hard going in places

and an English mother. At the age of 3 her family moved to Bolton, England where she lived until she went to college in Oxford. Monica Ali now lives in South London with her husband and 2 children. Brick Lane is Monica Ali's debut novel, when the novel was first published some Bengali Muslims did not like the way they were portrayed in the novel and planned a demonstration where they intended to burn copies of the book, although the demonstration went ahead no copies of the book were actually burned. Brick Lane was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2003. Since the Ali has had her second book, Alentejo Blue published which is a collection of stories set in Portugal. Ickle hands love stickle bricks

Advantages: great for little fingers
Disadvantages: none

Stickle bricks, ickle sticle bricks good for ickle fingers. I am sure you will have either played stickle bricks they have been around a long time. If you are my age, or even older you will not have played with these as a child (I do not think they were around then) but you will I am sure played with them with your children. Stickle bricks are marketed by flair I think they were a Hasbro product not sure about that though. So just in case you do not know, what is a stickle brick?
