Blood on the Tracks is one of the two all time classic Dylan albums (the other being Blonde on Blonde). Released in 1975 it saw yet another peak in his amazing career, with Desire released the following year. Whereas instead of the political songs of his early career, Blood on the Tracks saw Dylan releasing an album full of songs about love. The overall tone of the album is of sad reflection, with nothing too upbeat except for the countrified Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts, probably the albums weakest track. Dylan’s voice is not as rasping as in earlier records, and instead sounds more tender and laidback in songs such as the achingly beautiful If You See Her Say Hello, and Buckets of Rain. The opening track Tangled Up In Blue is arguably the alums finest moment with Dylan’s lyrical narrative being mesmerizing. This is one album that everyone must own, not just Dylan fans.
