The 1997 filmAustin Powersdid more than create a new sound-byte lexicon for radio ... more
personalities and strip-club commercials. It also took nostalgia to a new comic plateau. Almost every element of Mike Myers's composite title character is rooted in some obscure enigma from the annals of swinging-'60s film. Powers's fashion-photography fetish and his vamping sidekick, Vanessa Kensington (Elizabeth Hurley), for instance, are obvious nods toBlow-Up, the first English film by Italian director Michelangelo Antonioni. Likewise, much of the music on this soundtrack would find campy camaraderie in the music ofAustin Powers. The true quality of these performances, then, is a matter of context. Herbie Hancock's original compositions--much more pop-friendly than his previous work--are either supple or dated, depending on your perspective. One thing's for sure, though: the contributions by the Yardbirds (featuring Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page), and Tomorrow (featuring a pre-Yes Steve Howe) sound as scorching today as they did decades ago.--Matt Hanks

Advantages: Excellent Movie Sountrack. Disadvantages: None!
memories of this movie and of the time it was released in the charts to me and I just love recalling it all. This track was released in 1985 and reached number 15 in the billboard charts. The music video to accompany this love song was taken from clips of the St Elmo's Fire movie also. This is an excellent track, that?s an all time favourite to me.
Overall Opinion Of St Elmo's Fire Soundtrack.
Well as you have probably gathered from reading this review, I really love this soundtrack a lot. I have had this original one for over twenty years. I first had it on cassette and then upgraded it to CD. It really looks a bit tatty on it, but that?s because it has been played a lot by me over the years, as I love it so much. This CD was one of the first movie soundtracks that really caught my attention because of the great meanings all the songs ...
Advantages: Brings back all the best bits of the film. Disadvantages: None that I know.
WOW! I love the film, and this soundtrack is absolutely amazing as well. Throughout the soundtrack I just want to get up and dance - and sometimes I do... LOL.
It's the whole standing in front of a mirror with the hairbrush CD. If you're a big fan of the film like me, then this is the perfect CD as you know all of the words off by heart without even realising it!
Everyone loves Patrick Swayze, and he sings track 3 (She's Like The Wind). It gives me goosebumps every time!
What makes this soundtrack even better is the price. For less than a fiver there's all the fun of the film! It'll get you dancing before you know it! Although you'll wish you were dancing with Patrick rather than on your own. LOL. ...
Advantages: beautiful music to a great film, very touching, cheap Disadvantages: carelessly made booklet, weird extra track
of gold and red as
you can see in the picture. The writing "Alexander - Original Motion Picture
Soundtrack by Vangelis" looks like gold, with the words "Alexander" and "Vangelis"
being bigger than the rest.
The back of the CD has the tracklist on it, next to a picture of Alexander in battle on
his horse.
The booklet is basicly a long piece of paper folded four times. On the first page there
is a photgraph of Vangelis with the information that all the music has been composed,
arranged, produced and performed by him. In the lower corner of this pages we
get some more information on people who contributed to the songs because
some other instruments played by other musicians are featured in a few tracks.
There is also information on the recording staff and studio,
On the next two pages the tracks are listed again and there is more information ...

Album Notes
Starring Johnny Depp as a dashing young drug dealer, the film BLOW is an inside look at the underbelly of the drug trade, '70s style. Accordingly, the movie's soundtrack is laced with post-hippie classics like the Rolling Stones' pulsating "Can't You Hear Me KNocking" and the Marshall Tucker Band's southern-rock love song "Can't You See." The song selection does jump back and forth in time a bit, reaching back to Link Wray's instrumental twangfest "Rumble" and Cream's psychedelic blues-rock gem "Strange Brew," and forward to KC & the Sunshine Band's disco-riffic "Keep It Comin' Love." Nevertheless, this is an admirably eclectic collection (who can fault a soundtrack that includes the Bob Dylan oddity "All the Tired Horses?") that serves as a fine companion to the movie.
