It's both upsetting and great that this is Orbital's last album. Upsetting, because after the poor previous album "The Altogether", this sees the group back on high form again, and I want to hear more, but great that they're going out on such a high note. It's not quite on the level of their classics "Brown" or "In Sides", but I reckon this could well become my third favourite Orbital album.

Opening on the beautiful string-laden ambient 'Transient', my hopes were raised from the first moment, and the rest of the album runs a bit like an Orbital's greatest hits, with their classic dancier and subtle upbeat styles taking over on the wonderful but awfully titled 'Pants', the silly (but unlike most of "The Altogether", not cheap and novelty) 'Bath Time' and 'Easy Serv' and the epic closer 'One Perfect Sunrise'. Most outstanding of all is 'Lost', a truly beautiful ambient techno workout in the first half of the album, which sums up exactly what's great about Orbital without the need of words.

I thought - nay, hoped - this would be a good album, but I never expected to like it so much. Farewell, Hartnoll brothers, and thanks for all the wonderful music you've given us, Blue Album included.
